Fiesta Oasis Paraiso: Good hotel pity about the rain by Dochie

First visit to Tenerife, didn't like the cloudy weather or the rain. However the hotel more than made up for it. Food was great almost every day, entertainment was quite good. Kids disco was amusing to watch and they certainly tried to tire them out. Rooms were better than basic and were kept clean with daily visits from the cleaners. Pool area was good but you needed sun to brave the cold pool. Also pool 1.5 metres deep all round so not so friendly for anyone who couldn't swim. Having been to all the Canary Islands we would probably only go back to Gran Canaria.

This hotel is part of the Fiesta Group who have many hotels in Ibiza and some in Majorca, Dominican Republic. They are a leading chain and I have stayed in a number of Fiesta hotels and never been truly disappointed

Yes Playa Paraiso is basically one street, but if you want a Hotel based holiday then I would have no hesitation in recommneding for a Winter Holiday, I suspect in summer it is family orientated, as free child places seem to be guaranteed in most brochures for this hotel.

It won't suit teenagers or young couples unless they want a quiet resort, there is, as already mentioned 5/6 bars, 2/3 restaurants, and excellent deals on steak at the Aberdeen Steak House. I base the latter comment on price and not on personal experience, as I did not eat there.

Food in my view is excellent for choice but like all buffet type fare not very hot. You would have to be a very fussy eater though not to like something on offer. Choice was excellent.

Certainly during the week I was there you would have to say it is a multi national hotel. Spanish, Italians, Germans, Belgians were there. To hear Bingo numbers called in about 6 languages can get slightly boring.

Rooms I thought were of a good standard, lifts of which there are 4, but in essence 2, as 2 lifts cover floors 1-7 and 2 cover 8-16. They were broke down once, during the week I was there, w/c 13/1 2004 but were soon fixed.

Entertainment in Hotel was quite good in my opinion, three professional acts a week plus the usual fare of resident entertainent staff efforts, if you go I would recommend Gaucho Show.

There is a lido near the hotels, nothing special and if you are staying at the all inclusive Floral Parisio which is next to the Oasis, then entry is free but not for Oasis guests.

It is 10 euro for two adults and a child, to go into Lido but frankly can't see the point; the Oasis has ample sun beds and an excellent pool area.

Though Oasis is not advertised as an All Inclusive Hotel, there is the option of paying a supplement to avail yourself of this facility should you wish, related to drinks only.

Free bus runs three times a day to Playa Las Americas and I am told if queues are very long Hotel do put extra buses on, but I can't vouch for that. Also start to queue early to be sure of a seat.

If you want a Hotel to relax in and do not want pestering with Timeshare touts and PR people trying to get you to eat in the bar they are promoting, then don't be put off by the few bad reports.

I have visited this hotel twice and after reading one report wondered what I had let myself in for, I sometimes think some expect 5 star luxury at three star price.

There is a lot of building work going on but this never posed a problem, I suspect in about 5/6 years this could well be a fairly busy resort though will never be on the scale of Playa De Las America, some may think this is a good thing though.
