| Visually stunning island and hence why so many cruise ships stop in Fira. A small island - 1 week is enough - if going for 2 weeks island hop to Mykonos and Ios.
In the 1st week of September the island was very very windy and cool at night - this wasn't expected at all! the locals had their jumpers on!
If you hired a car you could be round the whole island in half a day.
I'd recommend this island for lovers and couples.
Avoid a restaraunt in Fira called Caesars - it pretends to be Italina but is quite simply the owrst food I've ever tasted in my life! Naoussa nearby is much better especially if you like fish.
I stayed in a cave (room built into / inside the cliff face) at Chromata Hotel - this is in Best Small hotels in the World and has best view of the Caldera - it's in Immeriovili (spelling may be wrong). |
