Flamingo Benidorm: The Flamingo Benidorm Hotel by Gary Howell |
| Posted 06 January 2006 about a visit in December 2005 | Overall rating: 8.4 |
Have just returned from the Flamingo Benidorm Hotel. Spent another Christmas 'all inclusive' Holiday there for the 3rd time! Its a great place. 3* but most people think it deserves 4* just for the excellant value, let alone the great service and atmosphere. In the last few years I and my family (and several freinds) have been to this Hotel 7 times. The rooms are really big, seperate bedrooms, kitchen area and TV (English channels via Sat) and phone etc. Each room has a safe & a balcony. Its location is set at the back of the town, so its nice and quite, (although the nearest Bars and Resturantss/shops are only 2 mins walk away) yet its only a short 10 min stroll to the beech! The staff at the hotel are great and many have been with the Hotel for years, their loyalty adds to a continuity of good standards. The Christmas Gala Dinner on Christmas Day is really 1st class and the drink never stops flowing - all with table waiter service!! I have met all sorts from around the UK at this Hotel and have found that 99% of the time, most people are more than happy. I can't emphasise enough what a great, cheap, but good quality Hotel this is and for once the 'all inclusive' tag is not cheapened but crap food and drink. The food is really good with a massive choice - with the Chef on show (maily cooking in the middle of resturant) at most times. The drink is reasonable too and international brands availabe at cost if so desired e.g. Guiness is available - but at only 1.80 Euros (just over a £1. a pint!!)
Pool is large, safe and clean with a nice outside pool bar and snacks bar, so in the summer there's no need to move!! Dennis, who runs the resturant - is 1st class, no problem is too small for him. All the staff (some who are English/Irish) that are Spanish talk good English anyway.
Only Complaints...... main hall can get a bit smoky at times, but that should end soon, as a no smoking policy is to be introduced into the Costa's this year.
In the summer the drains by the pool areas, can tend to chuck up a bit. I have complained before, an attendent comes, but it seem's to be the same most summers? Also in the summer, because its a family hotel there are loads of kids - so if you don't like millions of nippers running around, dont go durring school hols!Thats it. Try this Hotel - you wont be dissapointed.
