| Fuengirola Travel Guide: Fuengirola
| | Written by Helen Corby on 16 Aug 2006 about a trip in Aug 2006. Trip was for a single traveller on holiday. Helen Corby would definitely visit again.
| Fuengirola shopping | 9.0 | For those who wish to shop, then Fuengirola has many many shops. Have shops like Zara and Bershka. Dunnes Stores is a good shop, and there are many stores along the main street, and many tucked in one of the roads leading to the front. You can buy anything in the centre. There is a huge Tuesday market on the ferrier ground, this is a brilliant chance for those who like to barter. You can buy most things on the market. It can get busy, so i recommend going for when it opens, especially in the summer before the main heat.
There is a shopping centre about 5 mins from the town by car, a taxi will cost around 5 euros. This has shops, bars, supermarket and a cinema. There is also a new shop opened and it is huge, sells food, car things, clothes, household goods, pet stuff, etc called El Court Ingles. Again around 5 euros in a taxi. |
Fuengirola nightlife | 8.0 | | The nightlife in the summer is extremely busy, with all the holidaymakers. If you travel out of season, then you will still find nightlife, just not as busy. I have been over in December/January, February, April/May, June, July & August. There are the usual nightclubs that most people go to - London Underground and Heavens Gate, there are pubs like The London Pub, Foreplay, Tramps etc, all have a good atmosphere and good music. Drinks can be expensive, but they usually have offers on bottles etc. There are also numerous bars that have live music, karaoke etc, on the port etc, there are a couple of bars that have a music/entertainments licence. |
Fuengirola restaurants | | | Fuengirola has a port, which is a lovely place. There are a lot of bars there, English, Irish, Scottish, Spanish and Dutch. Nice friendly bars, where the drinks are a little cheaper than they are in the town centre. My parents have a bar there, so I can tell you the best ones to eat/drink in. If you want a nice meal out in a restaurant, i would advise "fish alley" where there are many restuarants, and not too badly priced. |
Fuengirola attractions | 8.0 | | Fuengirola has a water park. I have never been, but have been told it is good. They have a zoo, which is very natural, and the animals are beautiful. It is a really nice well kept zoo. They have a lemur walk, where you get to go into the enclosure where the lemurs are. Fuengirola has a castle at the southern end of Fuengirola and it is very nice to look at.. You will also see the big black bull on the hillside in town. |
Fuengirola events | | | In October they have the ferrier. In April i went to the ferrier, where they had stalls with foods of lots of different countries, it was a really good night out. |
Fuengirola day trips | | | There are all kinds of trips which you can find out from the local info office. You can horse ride, quad biking, trips to other resorts, and you can also get a trip to Tangiers. Most of these trips will pick you up from your hotel too. |
Getting to Fuengirola | | | Getting to Fuengirola is so easy. You fly to Malaga, and the airport is approximately 20 minutes away. You can get a taxi which costs around 40 euros, or people do taxi runs for around 20 euros. Also there is a train about a 5minute walk from the airport, and the train goes directly into Fuengirola, stops either in Torreblanca/Los Boliches, or in the centre of Fuengirola, which is the last stop. This costs 2 euros or less. |
Getting around Fuengirola | You can get around the town walking, car, taxi, or there is a little train which goes on the roads, to one end of town and back. There are also horse and carts. There are many hire car places in the town.
Fuengirola is the only resort which is completely flat, great for those with walking difficulties or those who dont want to spend their holiday climbing hills. The beach stretches right along, and if you wanted to walk for miles, you could reach the next resort Benalmadena. |
When to visit Fuengirola | | If you do not like red hot weather then avoid July and August. I have been accross in most months and i find it lovely at all times, if you want to avoid more hustle and bustle then avoid again July and August. January is a nice time, as their xmas day (Three Kings Day) is 6th January. There is a parade through the town. |
