Fuerteventura Princess: feel like a princess at the Fuerteventura Princess, Jandia by J&N |
| Posted 19 August 2007 about a visit in July 2006 | Overall rating: 9.6 |
This was our 4th visit to the area, and our 3rd visit to this hotel. The entrance reception is beautiful, and from there it just keeps on getting better. For a large hotel it has a very personal small and friendly feel about the place.
As you enter the hotel you pass through the piano bar (very pleasant place to enjoy pre and after dinner drinks - live pianist every night, very moody candle lit area). Moving downstairs and there is the restaurant on the second level. On the ground floor, there is the main bar, shop, boutique, hairdressers, Doctor and kids club. (there is a lift in this, the main part of the building).
Out into the main grounds of the hotel, you will begin your search for your room! - you will be given a map by reception though in the dark finding your way can be a little confusing! (not assisted by the porters who wizz around on golfcarts! - be ready to leap out of their way!). There is a main slope which runs down the centre of the complex, it is rather steep, so wouldn't suit very elderly or infirm, but proves an excellent appetitie builder on the treck up to evening meal and breakfast!.
The rooms are set out in 2 and 3 story blocks, scattered around the large, impressive and beautifully maintained and planted grounds. If possible request an upper floor, there are some excellent views to be seen!). The rooms are spacious, decorated to a high standard, with aircon, TV (mainly european channels though some english BBC world/CNN news channels) fridge, hairdryer and balcony or terrace.
There is entertainment every evening (some not to our taste!) but most of what we saw, we liked (my only critism was that the entertainment started so late - sometimes as late as 10:30pm, the last sitting for evening meal was 9pm, by which time we were often so full all we wanted to do was sleep!).
Food at breakfast and evening meal was always plentiful, varied and delicious! (we were half board) Every meal we had was buffet style (so you get to try a small amount of EVERYTHING!).
The pools are all well maintained though do get busy at times. We discovered a quiet pool area, near the sauna and steamroom ... though it is the naturist area (hey!, don't knock it until you have tried it!). It really is pleasant and liberating too (better yet not many children linger there, so ideal for those who don't wish to be bothered by badly behaved little people! - sorry to those of you with children, but they are not everyones cup of tea!).
If the poolside is not for you then the beach is literally minutes walk down a slight slope, though those wishing to sample the pleasures of the 'all over tan' need only walk a short distance to the right from leaving the back gate of the hotel. A truely beautiful uncrowded and quiet beach awaits, along with an excellent on beach cafe or two to be sampled.
Its well worth taking some nuts to feed the friendly 'chipmonks' (actually land squirrels) or even go for a paddle and watch the dolphins frolicing out at sea in the breaking waves.
Be warned, this hotel has only one other hotel (the Jandia Princess) nearby, and no other shops (though the shop is reasonable for water and other beverages). The nearby town of Morro Jable is easily reached by bus or taxi (reception will order you a taxi).
The hotel isnt the cheapest in the area, but really does offer a true 4 star service, in a friendly and relaxed manner, in beautiful surroundings.
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, this is perfect! - if you prefer a more lively nightlife, lots of shops etc then this is perhaps not the best place for you!
We will be back again next year!
Thanks for reading!
