| Goa Review: Goa | | Written by Monk-San on 14 May 2005 about a trip in Sep 1997.
| The Portuguese influence makes Goa a little different to the rest of India, but it's still a taste of one of the many falvours of this country.
The people in Goa are some of the friendliest that I have come across, anywhere in the world. Genuinely interestd in you and in making you feel welcome, Goans are pleased to share their home with visitors.
In Old Goa, the former capital, you can enjoy the super little church of "Bom jesus" (Home to the remaining bits St Francis Xavier). The beach markets are well known and though you may need to be assertive in places, you can also pick up bargains.
in land, you can off-road into jungle, although judging by the expertise displayed by the monkeys in a) nicking my crisps and b) getting the bag open, I think that it's safe to assume that you are still not going off the beaten track. |
