Goa Review: Baga and Calangute

CALANGUTE

If you fancy something a bit different while you are in Calangute try EDEN. It's a trendy lounge type bar with beautiful decor and the most amazing staff who really do look after you. Because of the beautiful surroundings we thought that we'd get ripped off when it was time to pay the bill but it was no more expensive than any of the other tourist type bars around.

Upstairs at EDEN they have a new nightclub which opened last year (2004), lot's of money has been spent to make this place "top notch" and best of all it's FREE to get in.
The dance floor has it's own water feature......I won't spoil it for you so just watch out if you can't swim!!!

We loved the great mix of people and ages at this bar, especially on Karaoke night when everyone just let there hair down and had fun.

BAGA

Baga is the only place to stay if you want to experience a fun chilled out holiday.
It's got it all, churches, temples, shops and markets. The Restaurants and and Bars in this area are great value for money whether you want a kebab at 4am or a 5 course italian meal. My faves are Maya (Indian), Kim Fah (Chinese), Alton Garden (Continental), Fiesta (Mediterranean) and Tito's Bakery (great cakes and coffee served until sunrise). Bars in the Baga area are the best; whatever your after theres something for all ages and tastes. Young, loud & late (Kamaki), Friendly and laid back (Shooters), traditional brit bar (KC's), travellers hangout (bharat bar).
The beach in Baga is friendly if nothing else, the Shacks here have tough competition (amongst themselves), so the facilities are exceptional and the food outstanding. Oceanic, Lucky Star, Britto's to name a few are all well established and really do everything they can to make you feel at home.
For those who want a bit of western influence (I'm talking fast food), Baga has recently
gained a SUBWAY, so if you're fed up of curry and King Prawns....how could you?? take yourself off for one of their lovely sandwiches. There's also a very trendy Coffee house on the Baga road called Cafe Coffee Day, they do the nicest Capachilo, just what you need when it gets a bit hot.
If you are reading this and still not too sure about which resort to stay in when you visit Goa, think again and take my advice BAGA is without a doubt the best all round place.
