Beautiful hotel, tea, coffee facilities free in room, fantastic gardens and three pools (beach towels supplied )overlooking the sandy shore. Staff very helpful and friendly, many skills demonstrated by chefs, napkin folding, fruit and veg carving, chinese cooking etc. A very busy active hotel lots of sport, archery, sailing, tennis, pool volley ball at sunset. Unfortunately the hotel was dominated by mostly Arab guests who were arrogant rude and ill-mannered. Apparently the months of July /August are known locally as the "Black Cloud Season" as all the ladies from Saudi and Kuwait are covered from head to toe in black flowing robes and veiled faces. Very often there would be angry scenes in the lobby and restaurants e.g. The male Arabs would order a cold drink take a sip and then throw it across the room, saying it wasn't cold enough. 'Get me the manager.' I felt very uncomfortable as it all seemed so alien to the beautiful Island of Penang. I must add this was the minority, the ones I spoke to were direct but charmingl
Food, shopping so cheap due to the strong pound. Recommend the hotel but avoid July/august
PS Anyone need glasses. Take your prescript with you.
