Golf Residence Hotel was disappointing. On arrival (04.30) we were told our room was not ready but there was a family room available and we would have to share it with 2 complete strangers!! We said 'no way' so a very sub-standard room was made available for the first night, our room proper being ready for mid-day the same day. Effectivly we lost a day through travel and not being able to unpack until we got our room proper. We were not the only ones in this position - the hotel seems to make a habit of this not having the room booked available - some people changed rooms twice in one week.
The staff were by and large very friendly and helpful - the hotel management owes them a big thank you.
The food was ok - not fantastic, but not bad either, just repetative.
Entertainment was bad. Aqua aerobics every morning an water polo every afternoon - nothing else in the daytime. Evenings were equally as dull - guests entertained each other (karaoke, quiz, Mr & Mrs Golf Hotel) the only worthwhile entertainment was a drag show which you had to pay extra for.
Port el Kantaoui is small but quite pretty and its easy to get to Sousse by taxi for 6 dinars.
P.S. Dont go to this hotel if you dont like or are allergic to cats - they are everywhere on site.

Nice swimming area & eatable food - one shouldn't expect much more from a 3 star hotel.
(I am a German guy staying there during 8.10-12.10 (black baseball cap, black long swimming shorts, a tattoo or two:) and a dark-haired girlfriend with tattoos and rings) please contact i_feel_it_beating on the yahoo post.)

we stayed at the golf residence in july 2002,we had a late deal and didnt no where we were going. it was also our first time in tunisia,we found the hotel vey clean, rooms were not a bad size either. we were at the front of the hotel overlooking the water park.The entertainment was very quiet in the evenings the reps tryed their best, alot of people went to the fun fair which was in walking distance from the hotel,which our son found was exellent,it was also a short walk to the marina which is lovely,next to the hotel is a pub called the gulf brau its really nice and frendly in there.the staff at the hotel were really frendly the food was nice but it was repeated alot but otherwise we had a lovely holiday.

My 17year old daughter is due to come to this hotel 25/6/08 and she has recently been diagnosed as celiac. She therefor is unable to have wheat, barley or maize and I wondered if the hotel would be able to cater for her.
