Having just returned from another holiday to Gran Canaria, I thought I'd add a review. This is about the 10th time I've visited now, but the first time staying in Playa Del Ingles. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. Really clean, great food, great pool etc. The only downside to this hotel is how noisy it is. There is no noise from clubs etc, but the hotel is situated in a very built up area and on a main road, so there is so much traffic. The beach is about at 10/15 minute walk, but it's all uphill on the way back! I wouldn't recommend the entertainment at the hotel but there are a few different centres all within about 10 minutes. There's the Kasbah, Irish Centre and Yumbo centre all in PDI, and the Faro2 in Maspalomas is a 5 minute taxi ride away at about 3euros. All in all a nice place to stay.

We visited this hotel in August 2000 and must say it was spot on. Hotel was very impressive - esp when it's lit up on an evening. (The balcony lights went on and off automatically to ensure that it looked so stunning!)
The rooms were excellent, good facilities all round.
The only downside was the restaurant, as you had to queue for food, which could be a lengthy process if you have children. It was also downstairs, so there are no windows/views.
Gran Canaria itself is fairly boring, with very little to do and not many places to see apart from the sand-dunes at Maspalomas, which are stunning.
I doubt we would return, especially seeing as though we now have a 2 year old daughter, but if we could place the hotel in a different destination, then I would certainly stay there again.
