Green Park: Not the greatest choice by Alan And Tina Holidays |
| Posted 05 October 2004 about a visit in December 2003 | Overall rating: 4.7 |
This was a Cosmos AOA holiday and I can understand why they fill it this way. You wouldn't go there through choice.
Green Park, Golf Del Sur is directly under the flight path of incoming planes, bearable in January, but it must be a nightmare in the summer.
The hotel itself is very basic, we went 2* and it was a VERY basic 2*. You get 'kitchen facilities' in the loosest sense, the mattresses were thin and the bathroom facilities very basic.
The hotel entertainment was severely limited, I can only assume they had closed down for the winter, even though the hotel was still quite busy, and it's hardly winter by our UK standards, temps still in the 70s.
There are basic shopping facilities around the hotel, but a walk to the main shops takes about 15 mins and there are a few decent restaurants to choose from whilst there.
As a base just for sleeping it was just about okay. We had a car for three days and did plenty of organised trips.
We recommend Tiede-by-night, a fantastic experience and really not to be missed.
If you go to Loro Parque, don't bother with the other zoo. This is the best by far.
The dolphin/whale trip is okay, espcially the views you get at Los Gigantes, however sitting on the starboard side of the incoming plane, you get even better views of the whole island if you arrive during daytime.
One of our car trips was to nearby Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas. Comparing the two, the latter struck me as a bit too tacky, but some areas of Los Cristianos were well worth visiting, and I can certainly see us returning to Tenerife and staying around LC, although I suspect we'd avoid both places during the height of the season.
