H10 Tenerife Playa: First time here - Excellent! by Ciderman |

My wife and I stayed here for a quiet winter break. We had been to PDLC before and we knew the location of the h10 and decided to try it. We flew to the south airport. We knew the taxi fare would be significant - but the driver metered the journey and it came to 100 euro which is what we expected. As already mentioned the Lido is right opposite the hotel and when we were there it was still being refurbished. We weren't that upset about this - it did spoil the view but not too much. The rooms are comfortable and everywhere is very clean. The staff we found friendly and helpful. We only had bed and breakfast, but the buffet breakfast was veryb good with loads of hot and cold items. By far the best aspect of the h10 was the gardens and pool area. There are two pool, one of which was heated. Only 1 deg C between them though. There was always a lifeguard on duty during the day who was very attentive. The temperature, chlorine and ph values were taken and displayed three times a day. The gardens are pleasant and there a lot of sun loungers. We shall definately be going back to the h10.

H10 Tenerife Playa: H10 Tenerife Playa - New Year 2003/4 by Alan |
| Posted 01 February 2004 | Overall rating: 9.0 |
We had stayed at the Playa 20 years ago, in summer, and wondered if it was still as good. It was, in every respect except the weather, which was particularly rotten
Having stayed at the 5* Semiramis last New Year, we did not think the Gala Dinner could be bettered, but the Playa came-up trumps with a superb meal and slick organisation.
Normal meals were excellent, with lots of choice and the hotel has a 'friendly feel'. Highly recommended.
Only one caution! If you get one of the few rooms fronting onto the Avenida Generalissimo at the side of the hotel, insist on moving - it's all-night noise!

H10 Tenerife Playa: Tenerife Playa, February 2002& February 2003 by Tad |

What a dream of a hotel! An amazing stay from start to finish!
After a pregnancy from hell and as an incentive to return to work, we booked a holiday at the Playa as a "post Xmas treat" for February half term.
The hotel itself doesn't look anything special from the outside, but once inside, your impressions change.
It is delightful and very very clean. Staff cannot do enough to help you and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one.
The room was of excellent quality - my husband cringes as if I find a fault, I ask to change rooms. Yet I couldn't find a fault with this fantastic room! We actually had a family sized room, which meant a "normal" room with a Queen sized bed, as well as a "second part" of the room which contained a travel cot (good quality), huge sofa bed and a fancy table & standard lamp. (So basically, this room was more like an apartment!) We also had 2 balconies and a private sun terrace! Wow!
(Please note that you do pay extra for a balcony!)
I was a little nervous travelling with a 9 month old baby, but all fears were swept away after staying at this magnificent hotel.
The first day we attended the welcome meeting, where Mark the rep (best rep I have ever come across) took us for a tour around the resort, pointing out the local shops for baby supplies, as well as the cheapest place for buying alcohol.
There is so much to do, even if you cannot sunbathe (difficult with a baby) you don't have time to be bored.
We hired a stocked (non alcoholic) mini bar which we then used as a fridge for the week. Pricey, but handy for storing baby food and milk. Iit also meant that we had a ready supply of cold drinks when Eve was in bed on an evening. (The hotel did offer to store the milk for us if we didn't want to pay for a minibar.)
We visited Loro Parque whilst there- the journey on the mini-train was an experience in itself. Joking aside, this is a must with or without children. The Penguin Colony is a must see, as are the dolphin, sealion and parrot shows.
Santa Cruz is disappointing. There are a few shops, but the best is the huge department store El Corte Ingles. Other than that, there isn't much to see. If you wander too far out of the area, it can be a little "dodgy".
I would also reccomment a trip to Los Gigantes, as the scenery is stunning. (My parents have stayed in Hotel Los Gigantes, a Thomson Gold - no children- which they rate very highly too.
All in all, a dream holiday. Such a dream, we are returning this February! (2003)
February 2003
Just returned after our second stay and can honestly say that we enjoyed the second visit even more than the first. Only sad note was that Mark has moved to the El Tope and the new rep at the Playa wasn't a patch on last year (not her fault, she had a lot to live up to!).
Already planning a third visit next year.
