Hawaii Mallorca: Hawaii Torrenova Apartments by Nicola Currie |
| Posted 15 October 2005 about a visit in May 2005 | Overall rating: 9.8 |
The complex offers 170 apartments and studios, most of them with sea-view and all with fully equipped bathroom, satelite TV, air conditioning, telephone, kitchenette, safe and terrace. Baby cots are available on request and will count as 1 person in the room and not in addition to the maximum occupancy.
The hotel is located 200 m from the beach and the bus stop, 22 km from the airport and 12 km from Palma. Buses run every 30 minutes.
I stayed in the apartments in June 2005 and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. the towels and sheets wee changed regularly and the rooms cleaned very often. The staff were mostly friendly but some were not.I wouldn't blame them though as it was very busy and very very hot.
The rooms were of average size but as I said before, they were well kept. Very spacious living and kitchenette area and moderate sized bedroom. Nice clean toilet and as we were on the bottom floor and right at the and, we had a huge balcony which had a lovely view of the sea and beaches.
The hawaii torrenova had absolutely everything to keep u busy.
There is also a full day and night entertainment program for adults and children with games, sports, competitions, dancing and professional shows. You will also find a games room, table tennis and billiards (extra charge) within the hotel. Close by you will find tennis courts, golf course, horse riding, bowling, bike hire, squash and a variety of water sports
The pool is an obvious activity to keep you busy, but also there is internet available, the phone in the downstairs reception was very very cheap and let you stay on for absolutely ages, so use that instead of the ones on the street as they are quite expensive. There are pool tables available and a games room full of arcade games, theres washing facilities for your laundry and even a kids club for the children.
The Bar situated beside the pool is excellent for a refreshing drink suring the day, or even for a tasty lunch if you dont want to venture out into the town that day. a wide variety of food and drink on the menu. The service was excellent.
The hotel offers a reception desk, money exchange, car hire desk, fax service and multi lingual staff.
Within the hotel you will also find a supermarket. The adjoining supermarket is very handy if you are going self catering but there is a spar further up the hill which is cheaper and also nearby. Located close by is a doctors, a pharmacy, lots of shops and is right beside 'the strip' which is obviously very handy for young holiday goers, and for anyone looking to head out into the town for a good night out. Although it is near the strip, the hotel still remains very quiet and peaceful at night, which is perfect for retiring to after a long night out, or even an early night in.
I reccomend these apartments/hotel to anyone as the accommodation was fantastic and worth staying in whilst in Palma Nova.

Hawaii Mallorca: early season break at hotel hawaii by Dave Fallon |
| Posted 20 May 2005 about a visit in April 2005 | Overall rating: 5.8 |
hotel hawaii has agreat location being frontline to the sea, most rooms have a beautifull sea views & where the sunbathing area is you can watch all the big yauchts comming & going all day long. as a keen fisherman i could also fish without leaving the hotel complex. the hotel is built at the top of a rock so there is quite a steep incline to the front doors, although i did see people staying at the hotel using electric wheel chairs & i did notice inside the hotel there was ramps along with stairs, so i would consider the hotel wheelchair freindly,
the hotel was very clean & our bedroom was amplesized with twin beds, although there was only one plug socket in the whole room, hard work when you consider plug in fly killers, hair dryer, kettle, phone charger & any other appliance you may take along.
the rooms were cleaned & the towels changed daily & i donot think the cleaners had a day off in the two weeks we were there. the cleaners & the receptionists were the freindliest staff at the hotel, the rest left alot to be desired.
i have been on alot of all inclusive holidays before & i can honestly say for the food, restaurant & bar service, daytime entertainment & hotel facilities this is buy far the worst i have ever experienced, allthough the entertainment in the evening was by far the best.
on the food side of things breakfast was ok, lunch & evening meal were very basic with a very small choice, they could not quite get the menu right ie- if there was roast beef on you had to have it with rice or chips, or when they put proper potatoes on you had to have them with battered sausage.
i also think if you had childeren withyou it would cost a small fortune to eat out.
the restaurant was under staffed and very rarley did a waiter clear away dirty plates between courses.
the bar service was terrible & again in my opinion under staffed.
the set out of the hotel takes somegetting used to, up six floors to get a drink, down six floors with drink to sunbathe or take the lift if they are working.
eventually they opened the bar around the pool so it did make life easier, until we had a bad weather day + then you had to do the whole six floors routine in reverse because they could not work out everyone was inside so why not open the inside bar?
during the day there was no entertainment around the pool what so ever although i believe there were other activities going on ie- darts, archery, canoing & dance.
the evening entertaiment was the best i have experienced there was a different act on every other night, ie- tribute singers & groups, magicians, hypnotists, dancers & acrobats. although they were far from the worlds best it was nice to be entertained rather than being the entertainment.
the resort were very clean & full of shops, cafes, bars & night clubs, with the added bonus for all you golden oldies leapy lee [ little arrows ] is singing in the blue fountain bar on the quiet back road to magaluf, approx ten mins walk from hotel hawaii.
note of caution
whilst sunbathing around the hotel hawaii pool there where several bags stolen, the problem is there is a public right of way around the sunbathing & bar area so just about anybody can walk in & out without arousing suspicion , so they are experiencing alot of trouble with pickpockets & bag snatchers.

Hawaii Mallorca: sad to be British by Much Travelled |
| Posted 29 September 2004 about a visit in August 2004 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
Hotel great, views breathtaking, food first class with variable choices and good clear up of tables service.
Nightly entertainment was fun and different each night.
Entertainment staff were never to busy to answer questions and very popular all round.
O.K. The downside were the British guests, loud , foul mouthed and drinking frrom dawn to midnight, the men all dressed in football shirts, socks at half mast and body tattoes The women were no better, dressed like slappers, tattoes on show etc. and could only lie on the
sunbeds and bellow orders at their kids "Don't do that Kylie or I'll ----? slap you." "Wait till your Dad gets back he'll kill you"
Alternatively the French and German guests were civil and a pleasure to talk to and were glad they weren't
British.
To sum up Brilliant hotel but spoilt by the British
