I visited the Calero for the 3rd time with my wife and daughter and her friend. We visited this hotel last September and had a wonderful holiday.However this July 2006 we found that the whole of the animation team had left and there had been a signific reduction in staff ie. behind the bar, in the resteraunt, and reception.
The rooms cannot be faulted and were well maintained and clean, however if you do go ask for a non slip shower mat as the bath surface is very slippy. The food was very good although at times repetetive, and the staff waiting on seemed to be rushed of their feet.Also you could find yourself waiting for food being cooked, depending on what time you came in for dinner.
The new animation team tried very hard but their quiz night was a bit of a farce and some of the acts were very poor, the Russian dancers and the woman with the parrot show should be given a miss.
We went all inclusive which proved very good as the price of drinks was very high : a Baileys was 5 euros and 80 cents!!! The pools and outside areas are kept spotless and the staff were always cleaning everywhere and there are plenty of sunbeds no matter what time of day you came down. We were a little dissapointed with our stay , but it does not distract that this is still a very good hotel and we would probably come back if the entertainment improved...........
