| Icmeler Travel Guide: Icmeler, Turkey
| | Written by Maria/Peter Herbert on 18 Oct 2007 about a trip in Sep 2007. Trip was for a couple on holiday. Maria/Peter Herbert would definitely visit again.
| Icmeler shopping | | | The shopping is marvelous, plenty of choice. There are lots of copies of clothes available, but you can get genuine clothes if you look. There is a Wednesday market, but it is huge, and I didn't see any real bargains, a lot of copies though. |
Icmeler nightlife | | We didn't feel at all threatened by the night life, there were numerous bars and resturants offering different things. A turkish night was definitely worth the money, there you had the bar staff who entertained you all night with their acrobatic dancing.
One waiter balance a tray of drinks on his head while dancing, and actually jumped off the bar without spilling a drink. We were also entertained with a belly dancer, a traditional folk dancing group and finished off with a break dancing trio, who were excellent. It was a fabulous night, the bar was near the beach, off the middle road, but I can't remember the name. |
Icmeler restaurants | | | For the nicest steaks, Harrys Restaurant in the square was excellent, you had a little wait, but they did cook everything fresh, and their fish and chips were the best, and the whole meal only cost £20 for the night. The Angel also was excellent, though its hidden in a side street in the old village, but it was nice to get away from the noise and bustle of the bigger resturants near the beach. which was nice and romantic, and we visited them quite a few times. The nicest consistent food was the Artemis, which is not far from the beach, from the outside it looks more like a bar with a Sky screen. We originally went there to watch the rugby world cup, because the lady in charge was welsh, but went back for the food, their sunday dinner was exceptional and their shank of lamb was second to none. So don't get put off by your first impression. Lastly for a beach location the Liberty also served excellent food, and you had a free sunbed and waiter service, talk about being spoiled, and the staff treated you like family. |
Icmeler day trips | | The trip to turtle beach and the temple was excellent, a long day though, difficult if you have very small children. An unforgetatable trip. The captain was a star.
Next time we plan to take the catamaran to Rhodes, it only takes 50 minutes. |
Getting to Icmeler | | | Dalaman Airport is around an hour and a half drive away, we paid for a taxi, which the cheapest we found was £80 round trip for two. I would imagine if you go on a coach this could take longer, and added to a 4 1/2 journey, it is a long day. |
Getting around Icmeler | | Dolmuses run every 10 minutes |
When to visit Icmeler | | June and September/October, it was 38 in September, and hot. |
