| Icmeler Travel Guide: Clean, Brilliant family orientated place. Friendly
| | Written by Denise Blackwell on 24 Mar 2008 about a trip in Aug 2007. Trip was for a family on holiday. Denise Blackwell would definitely visit again.
| Icmeler shopping | 8.0 | | Jewellery great prices a fraction of what you would pay in England for quality you are receiving. eg: Purchased Saphire and Diamond ring for £250.00 valued in England at £1500. Buy Diesel, Fred Perry Mckenzie clothing etc they may be copies but extremely good copies. Bedding and towelling good buys: Bath Sheets around £5.00 each in the market, same quality at home £15.00 +. Purchased throw over for bed in England paid 110.99, they were imported from Turkey- turkish price 32.00 |
Icmeler nightlife | 8.0 | | In icmeler we have never seen any violence, felt intimidated, or felt frightened to be on the street at night even at 1/2am. Night life is based around pubs and restaurants. All cater for children.Free pool, playstation games etc. Pubs have there own entertainment, Micheal Jackson shows, Karaoke- some of the singers are very good. There are a few pubs where you can go for a quiet drink ie Charlies place up the road from the blue rainbow hotel. Hotels organise their own Turkish night at a cost, you'll see the same show in the pubs "free of charge" they will come round with a collection hat, but they do this in the hotels as well. |
Icmeler restaurants | 9.0 | My favorite restaurant is the Mandlin, food fantastic staff lovely with out hastle followed closely by the Pyramid. For breakfast the red lion has proper english sausage and bacon, closely followed by the Florida Bar. Average price for an evening meal for 4 persons (starter, steak, desert and drinks) £30.00. Breakfast - full English including cup of tea or coffee 6.00. Lunch is low key but try the lamb or chicken wraps available in most places they are to die for atabout 2.00 each.
If you're a lager drinker their own brand (Bottled not draught) is nice. Their own make of spirits are good as well as their wines, imported drinks work out about the same as England except you get morein the glass.
More importantly, look at the restaurants when they have finished serving food. The kichen areas are scrubbed from top to bottom, must be the cleanest kichens. |
Icmeler attractions | 8.0 | | The beach at Icmeler is very shingly, but clean. |
Icmeler day trips | | Must do the jeep safari- it is a time when children see how childish their parents really are. Put awater gun in an adults hand and watch them play.
The boat trips from the beach are nice and relaxing but can be very hot during the midday heat.
A visit to Marmarusis a must go by boat come back by bus, two different experiences. The Bazaar at Marmarus is busling but can be intimidating, look around for bargains. Visit the old Roman Ruins in Marmarus, and have a look around the harbour. |
Getting to Icmeler | 6.0 | | This year will be my families 4th visit. We have done the tour operator twice and find the normal 3 hour shuttle eats into the holiday time. Last year we booked with Icmeleronline .com and used there transport. transfer time from the airport to accomodation 1 hour 15 minutes. |
Getting around Icmeler | | Most people walk, get the bus or use the boat. Walking to Marmarus 40 minutes, Dolmus - 15 minutes, boat 20 minutes but the view is fantastic |
When to visit Icmeler | Have travelled to icmeler three timesin high season -August- which is hot, but you do get a nice sea breeze which can be deceiving where the temperature is concerned.
Speaking to the locals they say April is beautiful, the flowers are just coming into bloom and the temperatures are in the early 20's nice for walking around. The same for the end of September. October tends to be changeable |
