International Drive Review: Excellent holiday destination for all ages!!

Written by Sharonb on 13 Dec 2004 about a trip in Jan 2004.

We spent a week in Orlando in Feb 2004 and although the weather was really cold the first couple of days of our stay (we had coats and scarves on), we had an excellent time!
Apparantly the warmer months are from April but the last few days our stay in February were scorching!!
There is so much to do that on a weeks stay you can find you are rushed off of your feet but it can be done!
We visited Disney's Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure AND Seaworld in the week we were there plus had a day to relax by the pool and a days shopping.
Disney's Magic Kingdom we found is very much for children, and the queues were massive. One ride was a 70 min wait!!
If you dont have any children, try one of the other Disney parks instead.
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure were both excellent days out. I am suprised one reviewer describes them as 'Run down', I totally disagree.
A tip is to purchase an express ticket so that you dont have to queue for the rides and shows, this means you can get more done in the day.
Seaworld is also fantastic!! The shows are well worth seeing and feeding the dolphins at Dolphin Cove in the afternoon is a great experience.
For bargain shopping we'd recommend the Belz Factory Outlet Centre or for Designer shopping (and prices!) there is the Florida Mall or Orlando Premium Centre.
The only thing I would mention is the lack of nightlife in the I-Drive area, but if you still have the energy for a night out at the end of the day then head for Universal City Walk for Bars and Clubs but it does mean getting a cab back to I Drive.
Have fun!!
