If you are considering this hotel for your holiday my advice is "AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE"!! If you have booked your holiday already my advice is to call your tour operator and cancel it before you read this review because by the time you've read it you'd wish you had cancel it sooner.
Good points first: the reception staff is amazing and will go the extra mile to help you with your queries/needs…they truly are a bunch of lovely/helpful people. The same is true for the cleaning ladies: our room was clean daily and sheets/towels changed every two days. The hotel is close to a couple of small sandy beaches which in my opinion are far better then Fig Tree bay…mainly because they are less crowded and more cosy. Plus they are ideal for snorkelling.
Bad points: DO NOT USE THE POOL BAR!! On my arrival I've ordered a "Fresh Chicken Burger" only to be presented with something that tasted like rubber (don't really know what was "fresh" about it…) served with undercooked fries. Fair enough..everybody makes mistakes. The second day I ordered a "Seafood Salad": few lettuces with half a can of tuna and a handful of prawns…pretty sad when you are only meters away from the sea and surrounded by fish restaurants. And by the way,.since the bar is next to the toilets (and it's quite warm in Cyprus)…you eat and drink surrounded by an overwhelming stench of urine and you-know-what-else. But the crown of the rip-offs goes to the "BBQ Tuesday": €13 (not €12 as advertised everywhere in the hotel) for a selection of "Mediterranean and local salads"…basically slice onions and tomatoes (the few slices of feta cheese were quickly gone and never replaced…mind you, there were only 20 people at the "bbq"!!), the ever filling and cheap boiled potatoes, a massive bowl of spaghetti with tomato sauce (who wants THAT in Cyprus????) and boiled eggs (the yolks where green…they must have boiled the for hours!!). But the best came when we got to the "meaty" section and an arrogant chef asked if we wanted chicken OR(!!!) pork. We did not spent more than 20 minutes there…absolutely disgusting. We discovered the following week that the restaurant on the other side of the road did also a "BBQ Tuesday" for €10 with a MASSIVE selection of dishes and yes…it was "Eat as much as you like"!!!! no OR this OR that!!!
But in case you are still thinking…"maybe I'll go and eat somewhere else"…here's some news…on the other side of the road they are building about 20 new villas which means you have to cope with noisy builders from 7am until 4-5 pm EVERY DAY!!!! Only joking…they rest on Sundays!!!!!!
And guess who the developer is??? The brother of the guy who owns the hotel!!! So … not only they spoil your holiday…they make twice the money out it!!!! And by the way…if you think you'll go next year and the next once the construction work is finished..think again…there is plenty of land around the hotel and they will be building for a few years to come!!!! We loved Pernera but will NEVER EVER EVER be back to this hotel!!!
