Visited J/d/m in August 2001 and had to say we had a good time. Although it didn't excell at anything, it did not disappoint either. The best way to describe it is "cheap & cheerful". We stayed as a family two adults & two children in a third floor app. The app's are large and adequately furnished and the facilities at the complex were adequate. On site shop was OK and the snack bar was also OK. If you want a quiet holiday this is not for you, the karaoke went on until 1pm and the entertainment was very average. The place was over run with Irish people who tended to be rather loud at 2am. (no offence to Irish people intended)
With regard to location, a pleasent 10 minute stroll across some waste land brought you out at "the strip" with hundreds of bars & restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed the cottage English restaurant which we found to be good value and very popular, usually had to wait for a table in a good English bar next door.
The hotel is miles from the beach but the hotel courtesy bus would take you there four times a day(for a charge).
We visited Zoo Marine and I have to say it was fantastic, the dolphins are a must and although it was busy it was not over crowded. My children aged 8 & 10 say it was one of the best holidays they have had but couldn't explain why. Cheap & cheerful sums it up, but if it helps I would not be too dissappointed if a late deal took me there again.
