| Kalkan Review: The NUR Hotel | | Written by Ian Taylor 1 on 23 Jan 2006 about a trip in Sep 2005. Trip was for a couple on holiday. Ian Taylor 1 would definitely visit again.

Add photo | Kalkan, staying at the Nur Hotel.
The Nur Hotel is situated on the main Kalkan Road, towards the top of the hill on the left hand side. The Hotel has two swimming pools, one at the front of the main building and one at the rear, in-between the apartments and the Hotel.
The front pool has a bar and patio for ice cold drinks and snacks - at night the patio
serves as the main area for your evening meals and is the venue for "Turkish Nights" and BBQ's.
The staff at the Nur are most helpful and courteous, nothing seems to much trouble.Baris, the owner speaks very good English and is a mine of information on Kalkan and the surrounding area, day trips, good restaurants etc.etc.
A supermarket was being built when we were last there (Sept 2005) about 30 metres from the hotel (they only build out of season, so you wont be disturbed) which is very handy for many little bits and bobs you may run out of.
As you leave the Nur to go into the town, you will pass several restaurants and café's. Over the small roundabout will lead you to more restaurants, café's and the start of the shops including the Post Office and main taxi rank, continue down, past the street bars, through a labyrinth of alleyways full of more shops and restaurants until you reach the harbour, again, more shops etc.
You will by now have gathered that Kalkan has plenty of places to eat! We have been to many of the restaurants in the alleyway system and in the harbour and have always been spoilt for choice as the quality is fantastic - you pick one, its superb, you try another and its either as good, or even better and the prices are well below what you would expect for such meals.
After your meal there will still be many shops to look in as they keep open quite late - then a slow walk up the hill (or take a taxi for about £2.00) and its drinks in the bar with Baris and the other guests.
2006 will be our third stay at the Nur, this time we are taking our Grandaughter with us - it will give my wife something to do when I'm laying by the pool with a very cold beer.
