I had an extended stay in Cabarete in sept/oct this year and found myself staying for a week at the hotel Kaoba........
1.....great location, right in the center of Cabarete, across the road from the beach and close to all the shops.
2...great price for a budget hotel and you can pay by the night so can stay as long or as short as you want.
3....nice surroundings with a small pool and jacuzzi..although the pool didn't look too clean in my opinion, but I spent most days on the beach so didn't really bother me.
4.....bar and restaurant, looked clean, didn't eat there but was told it was reasonably priced.
5...great internet section next to the bar so could get a coffee on a morning and check my emails without going out of the hotel.
6.....rooms were basic but cleaned everyday and I had a small kitchen so no problems with cooking in my room if needed.
Downside......
7......I was robbed on my 4th night, someone went into my room and stole my mobile phone and money. The room was not broken into so they must have used a keycard to enter which made me believe it was one of the staff. Unfortunately I was stupid and didn't use my safe, my phone was on charge at the side of my bed and the money was in my case.
8...... The staff didn't care when I reported it and blamed me for not putting it in my safe, which is fair enough but they just didn't want to know and the manager had suddenly gone on vacation but none of the staff knew where.....
9.....Checked out straight away and would not return to this Hotel again.
Anyone thinking of going...yes its a great price and in a great spot but HIRE A SAFE dont make my mistake. Reading up on various other travel sites since my return this is not the first time things have been taken from rooms at this hotel.......
10...Luckily found a great hotel for my next 2 weeks out there and totally enjoyed my holiday. I love Cabarete and will be returning in January '08 but definately not to the Kaoba......
