Kresten Palace: Fab hotel and excellent value for money by Elsa Padfield |

When we staye dat the Kresten Palace hotel - 3 years ago now, it wa absolutely great. However, when we arrived in the middle of the night at the airport, we found that the hotel hadn't sent thier collection service to collect us. We managed to get a taxi to take us - we are a family of 4; 2 of the 4 are teenage girls with lots of luggage and 1 a diver. We arrived at the hotle and found that they didn't understand much English and what was more, they didn't have our reservation. Not to worry. they found 2 rooms (family rooms) on a temporary basis and showed them to us for the night, with instructions to return to reception the next morning.
We had an uneasy sleep and reported to the reception the next morning after breakfast and found that they had our booking and all was OK.
The rooms were great, with a double bed and 2 single in each room. there was a large balcony, fridge and a bathroom in each also and very clean.
The restaurant was very large, food ok, and men had to dress for dinner; so anyone with shorts appearing at the dining room at dinner time was refused entry.
The bar was well stocked and open till quite late. although it is a very large hotel, it wasn't noisy in any way.
The swimming pool and snack bar attached was excellent with a fee for loungers payable. This enabled everyone who wanted to sunbathe or stay by the poolside have a bed instead of loads of towels with no-one using the beds. The other guests were predominately German other than us.
the hotel beach wasn't very good but the bus service ran from the hotel entrance to Rhodes, Kailithea beach and other places at regular intevals. It was near enough to Rhodes town to visit but far enough away for a peaceful holiday. An excellent choice for a holiday.
