| We went to Kusadasi on July 25 2005 and stayed for 2 weeks at Acar Sunset Plaza - we booked with first choice and the hotel was rated as 4*. On arrival I promtly burst into tears. The hotel was shabby and looked dated and the room advertised as a spacious family room was cramped and stuffy. There were stains on the bedspreads which were generally grubby, the shower flooded the bathroom, there were exposed wires on the bathroom hairdryer and the whole place looked cheap and dated.
We hated it .
In Kusadasi central it was a nightmare - the harassment was unrelenting. Traders, shop owners and restaurant owners would harass you every step of the way to buy items from them or eat in their establishment. On a few occasions some of these people got quite unpleasant with us. Whatever you do do not say, "maybe another night"- they will not forget you and will hound you until you end up having to be quite rude.
On many occasions my 11 year old daughter received lecherous looks from older men and I found this quite upsetting - on the beach these men would openly stop and stare, and look her up and down and it was most inappropriate.
Be careful with kids on the dolmus minibuses - most drive like maniacs and with the side door open - my heart was in my mouth on many occasions! Likewise taxis - they drive like idiots and many taxis don’t have seatbelts in the back - my son narrowly escaped injury when a taxi went round a corner on 2 wheels and the rear door shot open - my son was saved by his older sister who dragged him back in just before he hit the floor.
Both me and my husband got nasty tummy bugs, even though we didn’t drink the water or have ice or salads.
Most restaurant toilets were filthy and smelly and a health hazard.
I have written to first choice to complain and would not recommend this hotel or resort to anyone. |
