La Florida: An excellent choice by Stuart Foster |

I visited here in November 2002, these apartments are ideal if you are looking for a clean well organised friendly establishment.
The rooms are spacious and sleep up to four as it says in the brochure, but personally I dont think it should sleep more than three. They are clean and come with a fully equipped kitchenette. They also have satallite television which is a bonus for those who like to watch Sky News.
They are centrally located in the old town, however I would not recomend it for people with walking dificulties as it is situated at the top of a large hill.
This functional four storey building has a grid of inset balconies which gets the sun all day. (see photo from my good friend Martin O'Brien) The Florida apartments is located above a shopping parade, the entrance is via a covered walkway next to a supermarket and a couple of bars.
The swimming pool is kidney shaped and filled with fresh water (although a little cold at first). There are plenty of sunloungers dotted around which we had no trouble obtaining. There is also a childrens pool which is located right next to the main one.
The pool bar serves alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and a selection of snacks. The staff ar extremely friendly and will be happy to talk to you all day. The owner of the bar told me that in the main season quote 'This bar rocks' He puts on plenty of entertainment and organises things like BBQ's.
If your looking for a holiday staying in good clean spacious apartments this is the one for you. (Don't get me wrong it is not like a 4* quality service) but the staff are extremly friendly and the apartments are set in a excellent position for exploring the old town.
I actually work for a major high street travel agency and would recomend this property to most people, I would certainly return to the Florida Apartments.

La Florida: Impressed by O.B |

Stayed here during November so it wasn't to busy.
There was only a few Brits staying here. The rest were mainly Scandinavians.
I was impressed with the hotel. Apartments are very clean, well equipped and comfy, however there is no air conditioning so it can be warm.
The pool is clean and there are plenty of loungers.
The bar is cheap and the bar owner (separately run to the hotel) is a great guy who is English.
The hotel staff are all friendly and helpful. There is also a supermarket right next to the hotel.
It is situated on a very steep hill towards the Old Harbour area. You can get to the strip in about 20 mins, and to the Old Town in a minute or two so overall is very well situated.
