Definitely

We visited Dubai during November 2005 for 5 nights & had a terrific time. The hotel was pretty average but it was clean & was air conditioned, as you would expect. The only thing that I missed that this hotel did not have was a balcony. There is a small basement car park (note – small) which fits around maybe 6 vehicles at the most & is free to hotel guests. There is also a large ‘pay and display’ car park at the front.

We hired a car which was great to visit the beach park & see the sights, including taking a drive down the marina to awe at the spectacular hotel buildings which are going up at an incredible rate. Be warned though, the traffic in Dubai is unlike anything you have seen before! (far worse than Glasgow city centre during rush hour!) so allow plenty of time (ie. up to an hour to get to the beach – and that’s without getting lost!).

Nov is a great time to go here with the temperatures just perfect (it was around 34 degrees during our stay), although as everywhere is air-conditioned you don’t realise just how hot it is until you are outside!

We visited the bars & restaurants in the hotels as it’s the only places which can sell alcohol, where the food proved simply delicious everywhere we went.. We visited one of Gordon Ramsays rest.; the Glasshouse in the Hilton which was splendid although pricey. On average we paid around £100 for dinner for two most nights, but these were 5 star hotel prices (inc a bottle of wine), however there are cheaper options than this which should we had been here for longer we would have used.

The beaches are lovely; I could have lay on the sands forever they were that perfect & a few times I almost did! Staying until the sun set, (one which proves more picturesque than the Ibiza sun set).

Dubai is truly amazing in every way imaginable & more, and I can honestly say it’s the safest place I’ve every been to. This is somewhere that I’d love to re visit again & again.
