| Limassol Review: Limassol | | Written by Ray Goldsmith on 23 May 2003
| Don't write Limassol off if you are to holiday in Cyprus. Some good bars and restaurants in the Amathus area and along the main strip. Some good beaches too. Try Lady Mile beach close to the main port. It is virtually deserted and you can swim in clear waters about 100m from the shore and still not be out of your depth.
Amathus beach is nice too.
Hire a car and within minutes you can be in the delightful mountain regions and surrounding villages. Good motorway link to Paphos, Larnaca, Nicosia, Ayia Napa. Limassol's central location means you are about an hours drive from all of these.
Summer temps are generally a few degrees higher than Paphos of Ayia Napa.
Limassol old city has the main shops and caters for everything you need. The Orphanides supermarket is also one of the biggest in Cyprus and caters for everything. Generally a very good location for families and youngsters alike. |
