| First visited over 10 years ago, loved the place then n still do. If you enjoy scenery, history, atmosphere, shopping, beaches, bars, restaurants, clubs...(the list is endless) you'll enjoy Lindos.
You're best enjoying the sun by the sea or by a pool during the day as the village gets very busy n very hot. As soon as the daytrippers are gone the village has a unique, cosiness about it. At this quieter time of day you can really enjoy the beauty of Lindos and wander around the winding cobbled streets til you find your favourite bar or restaurant. Not that Lindos is overly quiet - there's such a vast choice of nightlife that you can sit on a rooftop, with some chilled background music, taking in the views or party til the early hours!
I wouldn't believe the comments about 'not' finding a decent restaurant. Yes, like any overseas resort it's what us brits have made it n there's plenty of 'chips with everything' but do look around. There's an abundance of quality restaurants. Eveybody has their favourites but i can thoroughy recommend Ambrosia, Luna Bar's Restaurant, Il Palazetto n Mavrikos. Mavrikos (main square) is one of the oldest restaurants in Lindos n though also one of the most expensive it's fantastic for atmosphere, food (excellent, fresh fish) and service.
Oh n as for that comment from the girl who used to work in greece, Caroline i think (the barmen are only your friends cos you're spending money with them). Our 'friends' from Lindos by Night (VOTED BEST BAR - CONGRATULATONS ALL!) met up with us in London last winter n bought our drinks! I worked in greece too, so i know where you're coming from but you can't tar everyone......!
Not a complete expert by any stretch but i've been visiting Lindos for many yrs now. I also worked as a rep on the island for 2 years, so if u wanna know anything about Rhodes and i can help i will!
Missing out on my early visit this year (off to a wedding in Mauritius) but already booked my flights for September. |
