| Lindos Review: Just returned from Lindos 2005.... | | Written by Cath Turner on 30 Jun 2005 about a trip in May 2005.
| I've just returned home from my fifth visit to Lindos and am counting the days till I return in September, then to my hen week with the girls next June.
I first fell in love with the village on a girls holiday back in 2001 and have returned every year since, there is something about the place that draws you back year after year. I've had several different types of holiday in Lindos, with the girls, one with my mum and the last with my fiancee, I couldn't think of anywhere else where everyone is made to feel so welcome no matter what their age.
Well guess you're wondering whats changed this year, there are two main changes, firstly the opening of Scala the new beach taverna and the re-opening of Qupes night club.
At the very end of Pallas beach next to Meditteraneo is Scala, owned by Sortiris from Lindos By Night, great for a late breakfast and early evening snack and a new favourite for wedding receptions with its large roof terrace. Scala has made a big difference to Pallas beach with its great food and luxury sunbeds. Making it harder to go to any of the other beaches during the day.
Scala has beach BBQs each week which makes a great break from the usual routine by staying on the beach till past 10, before the long walk up from the beach, which some how doesn't seem as steep after a few drinks. The staff are friendly with Mark always there to serve you at a click of your fingers.
The next major change was the re-opening of Qupes nightclub on Monday 26th June, what can I say, the deco is very modern, not dissimilar to an trendy english bar like the living room, you'll like it if you like the typical modern english club, but for me Qupes was missing the atmosphere you have in Arches, guess its very early days so will give it another go in September .
As for Lindos itself, the people are still the same, after visiting for 5 years I find it hard to walk a hundred meters in the village without one of the locals or lindos regulars stopping to speak, everyone is friendly and ready to welcome you back year after year, the village has a safe feel and each time I visit I leave with more reasons to return.
For me there are no longer goodbyes when i leave the village, only see you laters
Till september....... Yammas |
