London History and Culture

London’s mysterious beginnings supposedly started in the 43AD Roman settlement of Londinium. This first London was burned down by an Iceni tribe, rebuilt and flourished in the 2nd century, and then abandoned by the 5th, when the Roman Empire fell. Several years later, in the 600’s, Anglo-Saxon’s moved into London and soon the city was a thriving center of trade and politics. It became one of the most well-to-do cities in the world and continued down this path until modern times.

Today London is a global hub of finance, business, culture, language, art, fashion, and music. It is considered one of the most eclectic in the world and is quite possibly the top tourist destination in Europe because of the enormous amounts of history, culture, as well as things to do. There’s business in the Docklands, shopping and fun in the West End, and the city center just bursting with heritage and history.

When to visit London

The city experiences light rain fall throughout the year with temperatures remaining mild. It is warmer than much of the surrounding areas due to a climate that imitates the Mediterranean. No one time is better than another to visit because there is always something going on in London.
