Lord Nelson: Noisy! by Deb Fry |
| Posted 08 March 2006 about a visit in April 2005 | Overall rating: 6.8 |
My family (son, mum, dad and I) were on the first half empty plane in during Easter; that should have told us something?
Apartment was very damp, the bedroom smelled damp and we had to hire a heater to dry it out - the beds (?) my parents slept in were in the lounge, it consisted of a sofa with a pull out drawer as the second....supposed double bed.
The facilities were adequate, clean and worked. Because it was school holidays there were loads of hyper active bored, cold children just using the shelter of the complex to run riot.
Having said all this I would visit again but in the height of the season and only put 2 people in an apartment, hopefully the apartment would then be dry and children would be occupied around the pool. My ratings i'm sure would be higher then! I would definately go back to Santo Tomas again but stay in the hotel, I like warm, dry beds.

Lord Nelson: Lord Nelson apts. by Tom Mcgee |

We stayed here in May and at first thought the resort somewhat isolated but, after hiring a car from auto pons opposite for around £80, we appreciated the fact that there was no through trafic and no noisy mopeds.
The apartments were accaptable without being lavish and I would say ideal for families, the animasion people being cheerful and enthusiastic.
For couples like ourselves who were overlooking the pool area there were times when the noise was too much but this was offset by the pleasure we derived from watching the youngsters and parents enjoying themselves. The energetic can walk to Son Bou, Or Cala en Gandana (be careful not to step on the nudists).
The downside to self catering there was that the local supermarkets didn't carry much in the way of fresh veg and no butchered meat. We may have been unlucky in our choice of restaurants as the ones we tried had little variety, were not the best cooked and expesive. Others however, said they had better experiances than us and we did discover the pub opposite which did serve presentable stuff at resonable cost.
If you go to this resort be prepared to either hire a car or book excursions unless a week by the pool is your ideal.
I can truthfully say though we spent an enjoyable two weeks there.
One thing remember your environmet tax of one euro per person per day. Not a nice thing for a family to be presented with at the end of your holiday.
