Visited this Hotel from 17/02/08 to 24/02/08 and really booked it on strength of reviews here, but whilst there are are always differences I do feel some of the reviews were generous.
To be fair, the Hotel I was informed, only opened on Friday the 15th February.
Taxi from Airport was 21 euro though Taxi driver did not know where Hotel was.
Conversely taxi back to Airport was 25 euro, so allows 23 euro each way.
Location
At far end of resort Hotel is set back and is approx a 400 metres from main road, some people who had come with a major operator had to lug their luggage all the way up the road as Coach driver apparently would not go up the road, I fail to see why.
New apartments are being built in front of and facing pool side of Hotel can't say it was noisy though. However more building work is going on up the road leading to hotel.
Rooms
Hotel has been refurbished and well presented but there are no chairs whatsoever in the rooms, not even a dressing table chair.
TV has no English channels, correction I did manage to get Sky News and Eurosport but unwatchable.
The same seems to apply for the TV lounge.
There are basically two public rooms one a large TV lounge- no Internet facilities, also no papers could be purchased. There is a large bar area but week we there no entertainment.
Strangely bar is spilt into Smoking and Non Smoking but there seemed to be no policing of this.
Restaurant
Whilst a reasonably good choice, no info to tell you what things were and whilst one does not expect piping hot food from buffet style hotels, the food in this Hotel was cold. There appeared to be no means of heating the trays that were put out.
Pool area at time of year no problem as weather was awful but can't blame Hotel for that.
It is a fair walk to heart of resort, Marina is at least a 20 minute walk at a brisk pace.
I personally would not return to this Hotel

Have been to this hotel twice this year, June and September - first time I've ever done that! The Hotel is situated up a slight incline off the main coastal road, so is protected from the traffic noise. The Hotel is spotless, the food is excellent and the staff are very friendly. We stayed on half-board and the choice and qualty of food for breakfast and evening meal was first class. The menu varied each night for the week we were there and the choice ranged from seafood to chicken, pork and beef. The pool and outside bar area was of a good size and happy hour (from 5-6 pm) meant that we didn't stray too far away around that time (buy one get one free!). We hired a car for the second visit and went to Gibralter, in about two hours steadfy driving, and was well worth the effort! The Marina in Benalmadena is magnificent has quality shops and plenty of bars/restaurants.
The hotel has an on-site gift shop with quality goods, jewellry, NAO porceline etc. Also has tennis courts and daily entertainment. Each night had a different activity ranging from Flamenco artists to a magician.
The hotel is being refurbished this winter and won't open til March (I think). I might even consider a third go - maybe!

Holiday 26th may to 6th June 2002. Arrived very late 02:15 after a 12Hr delay so thought we were off to a bad start & just flopped straight into bed. Didn't sleep much due to the noisy air-conditioning, but later found it was on full and if you turned it down to No.1 you could sleep with it on.
The hotel was very, very clean with the rooms cleaned every day and towels changed whether you wanted it or not. The staff were very friendly and helpful as was the Direct Holidays rep.
This was obviously an old hotel but must have been recently refurbished from top to bottom and the rooms done out very nice indeed with TV (but only had one English channel and couldn't be re-tuned ), Phone and the bathroom although small had bath/shower, toilet, bidet and a large wash basin with enormous mirror behind.
The restaurant was pleasant but although large seemed cramped with the way the tables were arranged and as we were a family of five we always needed a big table and there were only a few of these. The food however was excellent the first week with an excellent choice as well, but seemed to drop off the second week (spring bank) for some reason, especially for dinner with less choice and poorer presentation and quality. Breakfast was from 08:00 till 10:00 and you could have unlimited fruit juice, cereals (only 3 types), cold meats (continental style), fruit, full English, and umpteen different types of bread, croissants etc and a particular favourite of the kids iced doughnuts. Dinner was from 18:30 until 21:00 or 21:30 and as I said was excellent the first week with salmon on the menu twice. There was also a good choice with a good salad bar and cooked food in plentiful supply and as with breakfast as much as you wanted. The sweets tended to get a bit boring with the same things almost every day with the exception of the gateaux and fresh fruit. The only other gripe with the restaurant was the waiter/waitress service, this was very efficient, too efficient some times with your knife and fork barely coming to rest on the plate after you had finished when it was suddenly whipped away with the words 'is fini' and before you could answer there it was, gone!, but if you wanted anything else you just got another plate.
The hotel and grounds were one of the best I have stayed in (so far), and the largest with a nine hole crazy golf course (beware it is very difficult to do without cheating) for which there was a 3 Euro charge with half back on return of club and ball, also table tennis, a lovely waterfall/steam in one corner (man made) and the whole grounds lit up at night. There is also a TV lounge, card room, hair salon and main bar where the entertainment was nightly which ranged from naff to fairly good.
The pools were very deep at one end but there was a life guard but you couldn't take any inflatable in of any description, only arm bands for small children. The sun beds were only round the pool and not very many of them for a hotel of this size but there was plenty of room on the surrounding grass, which was more comfortable. There is also the usual shooting, archery etc games to play and a kids club with its own little hut next to the tennis court.
This hotel is truly international with Spanish, Italian, German, French and English staying here and a lot of the staff especially the entertainment staff spoke all five languages, very well in some cases.
The hotel is situated at the far end of Benalmadena and was quite a walk into the centre and the marina but was worth the walk and just has to be seen both during the day and at night.
We had a lovely two weeks here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any one, and we will no doubt be back one day.

Went here on our honeymoon having booked with Thomsons. The hotel was lovely. Spotlessly clean, good food and plenty to do. The only drawback was that is was set off the main road and several people got mugged.
