Los Salmones: Missing it already! by Missus K. |
| Posted 25 June 2005 about a visit in September 2005 | Overall rating: 8.5 |
So, not long back from Los Salmones, and i'm missing the sunshine (and late night partying!) already.
Los Salmones itself is a nice place, with 4 large circular apartment buildings with 5 floors in each. The apartments are basic, but you're very rarely in them, so it suits the purpose fine! Bathroom, wee kitchen, sitting area, and bedroom (and balcony of course!) You get basic utilities in the kitchen, just enough to make a quick bite to eat if you fancy it.
Los Salmones has a reception as you enter with phones and internet (for those of you who can't live without outside contact) and the reception staff are nice and friendly. Decent sized pool (couldn't get me out of it....), surrounded by plenty of loungers and a bar/pool table area. The bar itself serves lovely food until around 3pm, and stays open until about midnight for drinks. Bar staff are lovely and friendly :) You get Karaoke and some shows at night time, but nothing worth staying for... this is where you head out...
Los Salmones is great mainly due to where it's situated. It isn't right in the center of all the bars and clubs, meaning you can actually get peace at night if you want to stay in or sleep, but it's perfect walking distance for anything you do want to get to. Around the corner is the main Irish Centre, with many (obviously!) Irish bars :) however, if you carry on past them and walk for 5 minutes you come to the plaza and *Kasbah* centre. Through the day (and majority of evening) you will find plenty of shops open to browse around, and as night time hits all the bars and clubs start to open! (I would recommend heading out at around 11oclock the earliest...... anything before that is usually quite quiet. The majority of places stay open until 6am. Party through the night!)
There is every type of bar here that will suit your music taste. From RnB to Rock, Hip Hop to Techno... (If you're into rock/heavy music... check out Turbo!! - and Relax. Great places!!) Good starting point is Scandic, and this is where a lot of the adventures you can go on originate. (Went on a booze cruise and foam party myself! Great laugh and definitely recommended!) Happy Hour is generally on for the majority of the night, and you definitely get your money's worth (more alcohol than mixer i tell you!)
Back to Los Salmones, at 6.30pm the restaurant downstairs opens where you can have a wee buffet. It's nice food, and crazy chef!! (lovely guy though, made me laugh) but if you fancy something with a bigger buffet, or just restaurants themselves, there's plenty just around the corner (along with a supermarket for all your daily needs!) You can always walk straight down to the promanade and turn left and you come to some resturants sitting overlooking the sea, very beautiful (and romantic?) From here you can locate the beach if you fancy heading there.
Los Salmones was a great holiday, and i thoroughly enjoyed myself. Met some amazing people, and you'll never be short of some random friendly people to talk to! (and pull? :D) Definitely a memorable holiday. Check it out.

Los Salmones: Los Salmones Playa Del Ingles (Gran Canaria) by Lisa Thomas 2 |
| Posted 24 February 2005 about a visit in June 2004 | Overall rating: 7.0 |
just come back from Gran Canaria and had a fantastic time!!!!! Stayed in the Los Salmones appartments, in the playa del ingles resort. The appartments were very clean, but basic. The pool was big with plenty of sunbeds, and the bar was great. staff were very friendly, although security guard was bit crazy!! Met loads of people out there, mostly scottish and irish!
The resort is great for clubbing holliday! there is huge irish centre 5mins away from los salmones, loadsa pubs, great atmosphere, and free drinks!!! About 10min walk from los salmones there is the plaza. There are more great pubs such as hippodrome, and kasbar.
Went on holliday with the escapades, the reps were fab, very friendly, and showed us great time! i would definately recommend booking the trips with the escapades they are fab!!! expecially the booze cruse!

Los Salmones: Great if your there for a laugh! by Superman76 |
| Posted 30 July 2004 about a visit in June 2004 | Overall rating: 4.7 |
I have just returned from my holiday which was one of the most enjoyable holidays yet!!
The apartments were kept clean and were perfect for the kind of holiday i was having. the kitchen aint that big but what do you need a kitchen for when you are on holiday???
The location of the apartments couldnt be much better just far enough from noise but a short stroll to get there and any noise probably came from us anyway!!
The night spots to enjoy are the Irish centre or even better the Kasbah which is only an extra 5-10min walk and it wont be the walking there that is the problem it will probably be the stagger back!
The pool and bar area were spot on, the pool was full of water and the bar served alcohol and played any Cd you asked them. They also have a few Karaoke nights which were enjoyable enough if you participated! I also thought the bar prices were quite reasonable for drink as they tended to stop serving hot snacks quite early in the afternoon.
The Reps..... What could i say about them?? They were superb infact its the best bunch of reps ive met on a holiday before we had a ball..
Only one thing pi**ed me off about the place was... the security guard...... He is arrogant and tries to live up to the name of Rambo that he has been giving! If you ask me that guy should be sacked or smacked which ever one comes first! I will offer a big high 5 to anyone that throws this monkey in the pool!!
But if you can get through without having dealings with him you will love it.
Superman,Batman and Robin give a big shout out to everyone that was there when we were!! Aroocha cha cha

Los Salmones: there is much better than this in pdi by Jason Kelly |
| Posted 11 February 2004 | |
just got back from pdi yesterday
been here many times but this was the first time i had stayed here, the apartments were crap, far too small and the kitchen (if you'd call it that that) didnt even have a tin-opener/bottle-opener.kettles are optional and cost about £10 stg to hire for a week (do these spics take us for complete mugs or wot??) bar and pool adequete but would not stay here again as there is much better for the same price available.(greenfeilds, santa clara, santa fe koka etc)
(ps - laurie, r u and yer m8s the seven dwarfs by any chance??)

Los Salmones: Los Salmones by Sarah Duncan |

Accomodation at Los Salmones is fairly basic, small rooms and a very basic kitchen, if you could even call it that. However the pool is brilliant, but you may find it hard to get a sunlounger thats not broken! If you get on the right side of the staff then you'll be fine, Donantonio is a nice guy really. At nights there are security guards which patrol, however they spend more time arguing with the residents, we were asked how we would like it if we had 2 sleep on the beach because we had more than three people in the apartment!! But if your just looking for a place to sleep or lounge by the pool in the morning then this place is fine.

Los Salmones: Security and Reception by Rhiannon Braund |
| Posted 19 October 2003 | Overall rating: 5.0 |
i recently stayed in the los salmones hotel in september the first impressions of the place are fab you walk into a nice hotel and are greeted by some friendly night staff.
The rooms are basic but nice, if you stay in the escapades block the boys wake you up at half 9 on your first morning there.
The last day of my holiday was a disaster! I awoke to find two men in my apartment just wandering around and then go to go out of the door. I had locked the door the night before so had no idea how they had got in! When questioned they had said they had told reception that they had lost their key and that they were in our room number and recpetion let them in with a spare key with no questions asked this was at about 9 am in the morning. I questioned reception and they couldn't answer me as to why they didnt check.
The afternoon staff i found to be very unhelpful, and were not interested in what you had to say. Unless they stepped up their security and made some changes to this place i would not visit it again
