Los Tunos were prefectly adequate for our holiday, its right next to good ammenaties. Holiday World is a walk across the road and the commercial centre Faro 2 is directly behind the bungalows. The commercial centres are dotted about and they all cost about 3 euros to get to in a taxi. If you want a more peaceful evening with more upmarket restaraunts then go to Faro Boulevard.

The bunglows were cleaned everyday. It was nice to have the garden and patio area. We saw 1 cockroach and 1 mosquito, so that was fine. The pool was huge and clean, much nicer than other pools we have used before. The receptionists were friendly and spoke quite good english. No bar on site but they had a drinks machine and freezer in reception stocked full with ice creams. Would recommend Los Tunos and definately recommend Maspalomas.

The pool at Los Tunos

One of the bungalows at los Tunos

We stayed in two bungalows at the Los Tunos in September 2004 (4 Adults).
Just a couple of minutes stroll to the Faro centre but far enough away not to hear any noise from the centre at night, that was our experience. The Faro centre itself offered everything you needed with good restaurants bars and supermarkets both lively or quiet depending on your taste.

We found the location quite good for us being four adults the cost of a taxi to either Playa del Ingles or to the beach very cheap from what I can remember about 5 or six Euros. If you wish to walk to the beach it takes about half an hour at a pleasant stroll or into the centre of Play del Ingles about 40 minutes.

The appartments we had were clean and comfortable. Beware the dreaded cockroach though. The appartment lacked air conditioning meaning you had to sleep with the windows open, there being no mesh on the windows inevitably led to the entrance of the islands pest. Having said that they were the odd ones and were not in residence, if this could be addressed I would have rated the accomodation higher.

The staff were very friendly and the complex and gardens were well maintained, each bungalow having it's own patio and lawn area. The amenities were not open while we were there so I cannot comment on the Games room, bar and cafe which looked like it might like to have a makeover. The supermarket on site is small but delivers essentials at reasonable prices, anything more that's needed like the "Big Friday Shop" this can be done at the nearby Faro centre.

There are a lot of privately owned bungalows on the site. In September while we were there, the weekdays were very quiet but weekends saw the influx of owners and friends. The swimming pool on the complex was fantastic often deserted midweek with plenty free sunbeds free, weekends though (Sat and Sun) were the opposite and called for trips down to the beach.

Would I recommend it. Well there is a teaser! We had one heck of a good time and I think I personaly would go back whatever. If some of the basics were sorted out, mesh on the windows, air conditioning perhaps and better pest patrol yes I would recommend it
