Probably

We stayed at Luperon over Easter 21/3 - 4/4 and had a really great time despite bad weather in the 2nd week. Luperon is a bit of a backwater and the hotel(it is really just 1 hotel not 2)is not the type of place for people wanting big resort entertainment or glamour.

We, a family of five (kids 12, 9 and 7), came for the sunshine, beach, sea and watersports and got exactly what we wanted. The hotel is clean & tidy, the food in the only buffet restaraunt was good and varied, and most of the staff pleasant. Our Thomas Cook Rep, Bev, was superb and helped us change our rooms to quieter ones away from the Disco, the kids not wanting to stay up till 2a.m.every night!! Bev was helpful and full of good advice as to how to get our best out of the holiday. The Mega trucks excursion was fantastic and is a must for anybody wanting to see a different Dom. Rep. than just your resort, and the Jurassic Park scenery was stunning!!

Our only word of warning would be to book your catamaran trip through your holiday rep and TipTop Cats and not through Petra at the pool and Aguara Catamarans (who are part of the sea pro water sports team, and as we found out later, not accountable to the hotel or the holiday company)!! We did and it was the worst experience of our lives. We were told by Petra it would be cancelled for rain yet our trip went ahead despite 20ft waves, driving wind and rain and stormy weather, it was dangerous, no life jackets were given out and everybody was cold, miserable and seasick. The Captain, despite the adverse conditions stayed in his berth with a lady friend, letting the 2nd mate blunder his way thru' the storm! One family did not want to get back on the Cat for the return journey!

When we complained we were given no apology, no recompense and no acceptance that 20 people had had a day of their holiday ruined just so the company could make money. If you book thru' your rep you would get a refund or a replacement trip if you can make it.However that was only one bad day out of many good days, so we would definitely say that the overall experience was a superb one.

Definitely

Had a good time in the Luperon Beach Resort.. before we arrived at the resort we read a couple of bad reviewes... i was a bit wary, but when we arrived there wasnt a bad thing to say about the place (apart from the music in the night club).. its really a good place to lie down n enjoy the sun.. relax and drink...
Animation team where fun REALLY nice people and are willing to enjoy ur company.

ROOMS: they where ok.. air-conditioned, balcony, beds.. what more do you need?

FOOD: didnt have the best of meals there but there was always somethin you liked, chips, rice, banana pie (eeew)

TRIPS: we went on 3 trips while we was there the first one was the Dominican Discovery.. was good, a fun day out. Took us around the viligaes (so sad the way they live i felt sorry for them) Went to a private beach which was lovely and piecfull... n a few more stop offs.

We also went to Ocean World which was excellent worth the money.. We done all the encounters.. First one was the sealions oh my god how funny they are got pictures with them hugging and kissing us.. really really good. Then we Encounterd with the dolphins, they are so cute also got a chance to kiss, hug and dance with the dolphins.. Then we encounterd with the sting rays (didn like that very much, it was rather scary actually.) There was about 2 foot of water in the tank and we had to stand in it, then kneel down to feed them. We done the same with the sharks aswell they put them on our knees and we fed them n felt them, very nice. Then we had the chance to swim with them OMG never thought id do anythin like that in my life it was brill.

Catamaran: was good a nice way to spend the end of your holiday... Got soaked though.

overall a really good holiday would deffo go back

Me and my boyfriend lee went on holiday here for his birthday. It was brilliant, as a travel agent surprisingly this was my 1st all inclusive holiday. the room was lovely with excellent maid service- flowers on towels etc. breakfast okay but as it was international no great british fry up on offer. Lunch brill! either go to the resturant or go to the beach area where there is huts with pizza, chips, pasta, burgers etc. there were 4pools, 2 big 2 small, we were near the beach most of the time. the animation team were lovely great entertainers from the age of 14yrs onwards, amazing. lots of things to do, get drunk in the jacuzzi that was fun on our rainy dayz. that was the only downside 5 days of rain. december is meant to be least rainfall, don't let that put you off there is enough rum to keep anyone going and punch for those t-totals. the complex is very big. its is a brochure called sunstart which as in travel is usually the cheap book with not so great accommodation. this property is not rated highly enough. Lucky lucky men great. work for hotel and dont bother you unless you want it, they ar not beggers. one man came to see us every day just to chat, No.8 if anyone goes.
Only one downside near the main bar watch out for Mr Nicey works for best hotels in day, "want to come back" he says "cheaper next time". really time share con.
Lots of trips however could not afford to go on them, shame, they look v.good. first choice offer best deal for dolphin encounter aprox £60 thomson charge close to £200. I reccommend first choice to anybody.
Hope to go back dom rep one day, try it people its brilliant!
