Magic Fenicia: Good 3 star hotel in good location by David Storr |
| Posted 16 May 2005 about a visit in April 2005 | Overall rating: 8.3 |
the fenicia is in a very good position in the old town gives good access to both the bays.we liked the area at night for the shops bars and activity.thought the area were most of the large hotels were would be noisy speaking to other people stopping there we were right.the fenicia was mainly full of spanish pensioners, being able to use other hotels in group was a very good advantage you did not have to keep going back for meals. we had our evening meals at the cristal park although the menus were the same in all the hotels they seemed to have a lot better selection of extra possibly catering for the english market. the staff were excellant always helpful. the bathrooms were good and kept clean, the bedroom was tired but again kept clean, our room was at the back overlooking a side street no noise at night.
our first visit to benidorm i was impressed with the clean beautiful beaches they were cleaned every night by machine, the town itself was clean plenty of police about you felt very safe.
excellant bus service we used the train to alicante and denia very good you could buy a weekend ticket for 6 euros givind unlimited travel for both days.
I would say we had good value for money bearing in mind it is only a 3 star hotel but being able to use the other hotels was a real bonus.

Magic Fenicia: thoroughly enjoyed it! by Jean Paterson |
| Posted 20 April 2004 | Overall rating: 9.5 |
Spent a week at the Fenicia from April 10 - 17 2004 and really enjoyed it. The entertainment wasn't much to write home about but that didn't bother us. The staff were very friendly and helpful - we actually got more helpful info from the bar staff than we did from our rep!! The food was very good with a good selection of 2 soups, tapas, about 4 hot main courses, hot vegetables plus cold meats, cheeses and a wide variety of salads. The desserts were a dieters nightmare as they all looked so good but there was always plenty of fresh fruit on offer at all meals as well!! It seems to cater more for older people or families which suited us as we are all in our 50's and there were a lot of Spanish people there too. Actually, there were lots of different nationalities there. We found the place to be spotless and well maintained and would have no hesitation in going back again. It was also great being able to go to the other hotels in the group so if we were out for a walk we could pop into one of the others for a drink, instead of having to go into a cafe. Its very handy for the beaches and lots of good shops nearby. Its easy to find your way back to the hotel as it is just up the road from the dove park. If you go there watch out for Neil the barman as he has a wicked sense of humour and likes to lift cameras, phones etc when your backs turned (it is all in fun!!) and has a line in patter that would do Lily Savage proud!!
