Magic Villa Benidorm: Pleasant but not superb by Andrew Wilkinson

The Magic concept is very good and has excellent potential for making ‘all inclusive’ holidays where you are restricted to just one hotel a thing of the past. Perhaps a few more hotel chains should consider the idea although it would help if the buses ran more often. The free trip to the medieval evening is superb and worth going to, especially if you have children. Fantastic horsemanship and serving wenches!

The Villa de Benidorm is a pleasant hotel with friendly staff all of which speak very good English, but it is not large enough to provide a standard of food or entertainment you would feel inclined to write home about. Everyday the food looked the same and there was insufficient choice for youngsters, the entertainment was rather cheap and nasty. The pools are great but the limited amount of daily sunshine given all the surrounding skyscrapers a bit disappointing for sun worshippers. As usual all the better positioned sun-beds are snapped up well before any sane holiday maker is getting out of bed.

The Hotel is however excellently positioned for the beach and promenade; drinks in any of the several thousand bars in Benidorm are very cheap. Almost every bar has excellent quality cabarets hourly (putting aside Sticky Vikki) and are worth a visit. It must be paradise for those women who love clothes shopping!

Overall the Villa de Benidorm lived up to our expectations, and we had a pleasant week at the hotel. I don’t think I will be going back, not because I didn’t get value for money, just that I don’t rate Benidorm as my type of holiday.

We stayed at the Villa Benidorm for 2 weeks ai, this was our 3rd visit to Benidorm but we had stayed at the crystal park twice and decided that we wanted something more central for the night life.
The staff behind the bar are brill 1 even remembered us from the crystal the year before. Kids entertainer was brill also kept taking off with the kids during the day and our 14 yr old son came home with loads of medals and certificates.
The only downside was that nobody from the other Amigos hotels could eat there as the resteraunt is quite small but good and we had friends stopping at the Monika holidays so when they came over we had to go to the Tropicana gardens for our tea before we had a night out and taxis are real cheap as it cost us 10 euros to go from 1 side of Benidorm to the other side.
Will be going back again soon

This hotel is part of the Amigos Group and by booking one hotel you can get your meals or drinks in each hotel in the group a shuttle bus visits each hotel about four times a day. The Villa Benidorm is on the Calle Gerona at the start of the strip and can be noisey at night. In my opinion this hotel has seen better days but I have been told that a refurbishment is due in 2005. The hotel has all AI guests and you are issued with a card when you arrive with your photo on it and this card is valid in any hotel in the Amigos group. The rooms are of an reasonable size with TV, safe, however the big drawback is that all have glassed in balconys, and the air con leaves a lot to be desired. It is not all doom and gloom, the cleaness of the hotel is first class and the food excellent with a good choice at all meals and the is very little waiting at the bar for you AI drinks(which is a change) Would I recommend you go to this hotel? I think yes as the the good points far out weigh the bad points. But i would wait till the refurb has been completed.
