Probably

Hotel Mare Nostrum was in a pleasant location very close to the beautiful beach (Playa d'en Bossa) and about a 15 - 20 minute walk to Ibiza Town. Also very close to Space and Bora Bora. We found your hotel to be very good. Very clean and with good decor, friendly staff, good food. we will book again next year.

Arrived home on 8/8/05 from 2 weeks HB (40m 35f 14f 7m 5m) a really lovely hotel very clean (maid cleaned, mopped and changed towels every day) nice friendly staff.
Resturant open 8.30-10.30 and 7-9 fantastic choice of food (not very hot) but the chef carving a giant roast beef was lovely.
Met some lovely people. Kids club brilliant for the kids. Entertainment by Equipe they really made an effort- the CATS and GREASE show was fantastic the HORROR show (I wasn't sure about thought it might scare the kids) turned out to be the best laugh we all had.
Pools really good (inflatables allowed), But no lifeguard.
2 air hockey games, 3 pool tables, various shooting, racing machines (kids loved these).
Not to far from the supermarket and shops (aprox 5 min walk) a boat to Ibiza Town just down the road.
3 min walk from hotel the giant bouncy giraffe and lion and trampolines can keep the kids amused for hours (2 euro for all day) while the the mini golf (18 hole) at just €3 adults €2.50 for kids was well worth it especially as I got 5 holes in 1 and won.
We all had a fantastic time the only down side Thomson never mentioned the hotel was an italian 18-30 hotel...when mentioned to the rep when we found him all he could say was "we have no control over who the other rooms go to" with a 14 year old daughter this could have been a disaster but with a little common sense she never went to far out of ear shot.

All in all we had a fantastic time but we are going to tenerife next year.

Mare Nostrum: Been there before, and going again by Alex Phillips
Posted 11 August 2005 about a visit in August 2005
Me and my significant other are VERY fussy and usually want 2 star prices for 5 star service. Well, this is about as close as we expect to get. Everywhere is clean, the prices are reasonable, the bedrooms are not like youth hostels, the food is nice, the staff are great, and even the entertainment wasn't bad after the usual kiddies disco and international bingo had finished. We found that although there seemed to be plenty of chavy Brit families abroad there, there was also a mix of younger european folk who were far quieter and had packed far less bad sports wear.

The hotel is on the edge of Playa de'n Bossa, so it is quieter than being off one of the main streets, and the beach is loveley. There is a bus stop just over the road, and a boat goes to Ibiza town if you go directly down to the sea and left a bit from the hotel. The boat is better than the bus, because it tends to get packed in the summer months. Do go and see Ibiza Town, the fort is fantastic, but it can be a ghost town during the day, so it is much better for shopping and eating out at night. Also try and get over to the other side of the island to watch the sun go down, at least once, the music is funky and it is pure medicine for the soul! Salinas beach is pretty cool, and not far away but watch out for a few naked butts!

This will be the 6th time we have been to the Mare Nostrum, as part of our yearly pilgrimage to Ibiza. The hotel is a fantastic base for a great holiday, and because the island is so small, there are plenty of places to go and you can be back to the hotel in time for dinner.

If you are into clubbing, Space and Bora Bora are stumbling distance, which is a bonus, and for families, the aguamar is also walking distance. The hotel is only about 15 minutes transfer from the airport, which, when you have screaming kids and you have been on a rubbish night flight can only be a good thing. This time, we have decided to save money and get a taxi rather than paying for a transfer.

In summary, the hotel is nice and so is the beach. If you are after something a bit more classy, Playa d'en Bossa as a resort probably isn't for you. Try Talamanca or Port de's Torrent. For a great family holiday or for couples using the hotel as a base to get out and about, get booking to the Mare Nostrum. Tienen unas grandes vacaciones!!

stayed at the mare nostrum in aug 2004. arrived at the hotel early on a saturday morning only to be told that our room was,nt ready, had to wait 4 hours before we could get in there and unpack, but when we got in there we were not dissapointed, the room was lovely, not very big but decorated nice and was spotlessly clean, the staff were lovely couldn,t do enough for you,the food was nice but by the end of the week wissh we had gone self catering to have a bit more variety. very close to the beach but we did not get to go in the sea as there was so much seaweed they had to have big diggers there in the evening to get rid of it, it was very handy for the water taxis that go into ibiza town would definately recomend this hotel for a good time
