My husband and I have stayed in the Luz Marina about 8 times over the years since the 1980's. It is a great hotel, clean, plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner, the staff are very friendly, there are two sisters that work in the restaurant that have been there since we first started staying at the hotel. We often meet up with people that were staying at the same time as us before so it goes to show that it is a very popular hotel with its regulars maybe staying twice in one year which we have done also. Thompsons used to sell this holday, the last few years it has been First Choice but unfortunately 2006 they are going out on their own so do not know if it is a good thing as at the moment it is only British people that stay there but next year it will be open to all nationalities. whoever is thinking of staying here it is advertised by First Choice as suitable for adults rather than families which is right because it is in such a quiet area ( except for the planes taking off or landing overhead which you get used to and is ideal for plane spotters.) not that it is far from the shops and bars but you will find it has mostly elderly couples staying there my husband and i are only in our 40's but are not into rowdy places so this hotel suits us down to the ground and some of the 60 & 70 year olds that stay here are good company!! By the way the review that moaned about Rhys the First Choice rep perhaps would like to know that he got his promotion and is now area manager, we got on well with him and if he knows we are staying he always comes to the hotel to say hello as he now only lives just round the corner, but everyone has there right to their own opinion and this is just ours , so hope this was useful if anyone is thinking of staying there and hope you enjoy it as much as we have for many years and hopefully many years to come.

Marina Luz: summer break 2003 by Chris Barker

July 2003 we spent our 7 day holiday at the Luz Marina, the staff worked hard, the hotel was clean and C'an Pastilla had enough bars to satisfy us.
Overall as a family of four we had a great time; as teenagers of 18 and 16, it was nice to lounge round the beautiful pool which was big enough with shallow ends for those to sit in and room to swim for others. There were plenty of sunbeds round the pool and a bar to quench our thirst.
The restaurant was good with a wide variety of food (not chips everyday) and certainly enough to have 6 courses each night at dinner if you fancied it. (Make sure you have the yummy icecream in the menorqinq freezer!) Plenty of bread and fruit and you can order the drinks off the waiters and waitresses who were very friendly.
During the day, there would be games of pool, shuffleboard, bowls, ping pong and crazy golf in order to entertain both adults and children and for the chance to win certificates and medals. Dvds would also be shown in the afternoon if u wanted to cool off inside.
Evening Entertainment was good with a few professional shows a week - we enjoyed the Four Tops and The Three Divas then there was the hotel's own cabaret and quizzes and bingo earlier in the evening.
However it was enjoyable to get out of the hotel sometimes, just a walk down the road were supermarkets on the beach and loads of bars and restaurants - both majorcan cuisine and british bars would cater for you. Check out Sandra's Bar for some fun with their huge drinks with very long straws (cost 6 euros).
Beaches were nice and sandy with lifeguards on some parts, loads of sunbeds under parasols although you had to pay but its not too much for spending all day there.
Our rep Rhys was cheerful and friendly and the welcome / farewell meetings seemed well thought out. Its a really nice place to go if you want a swimming pool and beach and clean rooms with good food.
Hotel was only 5-10 minutes from airport which means
you did notice the planes flying over but it didn't bother
us - it was no more than background noise, once you got used to it.
