Marina Suites Puerto Rico: Total Bliss by Caroline R |
| Posted 21 September 2005 about a visit in August 2005 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
I have stayed in Puerto Rico on 5 different occasions and although I adore the place I have always struggled to find somewhere half decent to stay, but I will struggle no more! This place in fantastic!!
On arrival we were greeted by very friendly reception staff who gave us our room keys and clear instructions as to how to get to our room. We found ourselves on the 7th floor (9 in total) and what a wonderful room it was too! The room was huge, with large bedroom, living area, and bathroom. Then out onto a huge balcony overlooking the harbour and ocean.
The room was fully airconditioned which we were very grateful for! Everywhere was spotlessly clean but when you see the army of cleaning staff they employ you can understand why! We had a room key each (2) and they even gave us a spare one to keep in the room so the air-con was not swiched off.
The kitchen area was behind two sliding doors and although small was ample for cooking small meals. There is a notice asking that you do not cook for any more than 10 minutes on the electric hobs as it can overheat, but lets face it, not many of us want to cook a full roast dinner while we are holiday!
There was a fridge with small freezer compartment, we found that it wasn't very cold but after adjusting the dial slightly it soon cooled down. There was a kettle, toaster, coffee machine and microwave and all in good clean working order.
The bathroom was spotless with plenty of clean towels. These if you wish could be changed everyday but we try to help the environment eh?
The shower was a removable type over the bath, easy to use and no matter what time of day we used it there was always hotwater. The water pressure also made it feel like a powershower even though it was not.
The balcony had a table and two chairs which was great for sitting watching the sunset every evening.
Even though we were selfcatering we did use the hotel for breakfast and lunches. The breakfast was served in a semi open-air restuarant, where you chose your table, they came and asked you your room number and like us if you were s/c they just requested you paid cash at the end of your meal. It was 6 Euros each which for the selection of food I thought good value, from continental to full English and all freshly cooked there and then.
We also tried the lunches which could have been from a buffet or the set lunches ranging from 3Euros to 6 Euros.
The pool in this hotel can only be described as stunning! It is an infinity pool so it looks like it is falling over into the sea. Large enough for swimming in but also great just to lean on the pool edge staring out over the ocean watching all the activity going on in the harbour etc.
There were plenty of sunbeds although if you wanted direct pool side you had to be there early! We always found a couple though and they were in very good clean condition. There is also a member of staff walking round cleaning up any rubbish that may appear. There was also a lifeguard on duty from about 10am till 6pm everyday. Just away from the main pool area there were some garden areas where there were also sunbeds and overhead individual areas with curtains so you could really be in the shade as they had drawable curtains all round. This is also where you located the hot tubs (2 of them).
Entertainment wise there wasn't a great deal, which suited us but might not be everyones cup of tea! A member of staff would come out in the afternoon and tell you what was happening that day, whether it was a pool competion or dancing lessons, but when he had told you it then went quiet again. There was also a 2 for 1 happy hour in the poolside bar from 4.30 till 5.30 pm.
I believe there was a small kids club, but when we went the were only about 4 or 5 children there so I don't know if maybe they weren't operating it then.
All in all this hotel is just the sort of thing that Puerto Rico needs as some of the other accommodation is now becoming very old and tired. I cannot think of anything that let this hotel down from the staff to the food to the rooms. Everything was first class.
I will certainly be going back there and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who asked me

Marina Suites Puerto Rico: Marina suites- top class by Lynn Smith |
| Posted 26 August 2005 about a visit in July 2005 | Overall rating: 9.5 |
I visited the marina suites with my husband, 15 year old daughter and 7 year old grandaughter on 8th Aug 05 and can say it was really first class!
The rooms are huge and immaculately decorated and cleaned every day, the hotel staff are really helpful and the views are outstanding- either the marina or a sea view from all rooms.
The pool is overlooking the sea and clean towels are provided everyday, the dayime entertainment is organised extremely well by Edward who is brilliant. They also started a hotel-run children's club while we were there which runs from 11-6 daily.
Would def recommend this hotel and would certainly return. I believe it would be an even better hotel if they had some evening entertainment.
The bar which stayed open late was great but a little entertainment would enhance the hotel even more.
On the resort itself, this is our 3rd visit and we love it. Make sure to visit Amordores beach- the cliff top walk is amazing ,and also try Elgiteros restauant, through the tunnels off the portnova roundabout. Meals great, staff amazing!

Marina Suites Puerto Rico: great buffet breakfast by Bobito |
| Posted 01 August 2005 about a visit in June 2005 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
I work in Puerto Rico and this is my favourite place for breakfast. Non-residents can come in and enjoy the buffet breakfast, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, cold meats and cheese, hot fried foods, bread, rolls, pastries, coffe, tea, juice, for 6€.

Marina Suites Puerto Rico: FANTASTIC HOTEL by Michelle Gow |
| Posted 26 April 2005 about a visit in February 2005 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
My family and I stayed for a week from the 5th march 2005 what can i say but fantastic we had a two bedroom apartment and stayed self catering .The room its self had two bedrooms one on suite, seperate bathroom, kitchen although no oven did have a microwave and toaster the liv9ing area was bright spacious and clean with seatee and chair
The only faults that we found with the hotel where the fact of the shower screen in the bathroom as these where fixed and being 5ft 3in you had to step into the bath to run water as the taps weren't easily accessable no entertainment at night and no kids club or play area for the kids although they did have a table football game and board games for the children.
Although after talking to our rep she did tell us the hotel had only been open twelve months and once it had its star rating which i have to say i would give it a four should get its kids club and more entertainment.
Great location if you have difficulty walking as its on the flat right opposite the marina, the views from the windows where breath taking as it looked over the marina and out to sea on your left, straight across where the hills.
On the first floor was the pool which i had to say was lovley and warm great for a swim and the view looked out to sea they had a separte childs pool which looked clean but cant comment on it as my children where to old to use it but saw plenty of youngsters enjoying it ,They also had two juccuzzis which i have to say are fantastic after a long stroll although you may have to wait to use them as they where very popular. They also had a poolside bar and snack bar i believe this is where breakfast was eatan but after asking other couples staying half board they said the food wasn't up to much .
Opposite the Hotel on the marina about Five mins walk is a row of pubs and resurants dont panic they are not nosiey and wont keep you awake we tryed the rover return pub for breakfast one morning well worth it and lovley english bacon and sausages and you can get a mug of coffee or tea, in the evening they serve food but its more of a pub great for that last drink of the night a little further up is the Red rose resturant jane our waitress was fantastic and made my youngest feel very welcome and involved her in helping choose the meal the food its self was excellent and although alittle pricey well woth the money.
Going out of your hotel across the marina you head towards the beach which is less than ten mns walk away and again on the flat there you will find moire bars and resturants to enjoy and plenty of sunloungers, leaving the beach its only ten minute walk slightly up hill and when i say slight i mean slight to the shops and bars and resurants of the central commercial centre .We tryed a few bars and resturants here one stood out for me personaly which was churchills as im a diabetic they did cater for us and many other food allergies as well highly recommend if you suffer from any food allergie try them first im sure they will do something for you and the service was fantastic thank you karen and staff keep up the good service and food.
On days out we went to Mogan which is a lovley little place to visit also know as little venis youll see why when you get there although a half day trip was enough for us we caught the ferry back to puerto rico which was a glass bottom ferry which was lovley a good idea if visiting here would be to go on market day and do the market in the morning and explore in the afternoon if you want to make a day of it
we also got a taxi to masspalomas and went to Palmitos Park which cost us just over 25 euros to get there but well worth it we had a fantastic day out and my girls loved every minute of it there are however some parts are a little steep but accessable with a wheelchair even if you need a push .
Puerto Rico is a graet place to stay in gran canaria if however you want plenty of noise and nightlife this may not be the area to go but it was ideal for families
My Husband and I enjoyed it so much we are going back in november this year so if anythings changed we will update you
