| Marmari Review: | | Written by David Wright on 11 Mar 2002 about a trip in Apr 2001.
| Kos.........wow windy or what?
The accomodation was fairly good in a modern complex. We stayed at the Aslanis Apartments. A bit out in the sticks and a fair walk to get to the nearest Taverna which served a really good selection of traditional Greek food. Don't remember the name but it had the biggest rubber plant in the Northern hemisphere.
Car hire a bit dodgy and run by a dubious looking character who was English and purported to be a "mechanic"and assured me that it was ok to have 3 standard wheels and 1 oversize, (I don't think so!)
We hired a "cabriolet" conversion of a fiat cinquecento.
This conversion had obviously been perfomed with the judicial use of your average can opener, facing your rear passengers with a risk of decapitation on the raw edged metal.
Lots to see and do. Kos Town is a bit of a tourist trap but pretty in parts. Handy for nipping over to Turkey via the Flying Dolphin Hydrofoil for the day.
Lots of antiquities to look at and health and safety nightmares. On the whole it wasn't too bad and better than I expected. We might even go back there again one day. |
