There are two parts to the Hotel divided by a busy dual carriageway road, mainly used by taxis and minibuses. The Hotel provides a crossing area and the security staff guide you across safely, beware of high roadside pavements which can be uneven. It is a nuisance to have to walk over to get to the beach but it depends on how mobile your party is and what sort of a holiday you want. The mountain side of the Hotel has a lovely pool, sunbeds with towels, very friendly staff who get to know you quickly, a good restaurant serving all meals with seating inside and outside, and a pool side restaurant for grilled snacks and evening meals which we used more as it was lovely to eat outside. It is a quiet setting with views of the sinai hills. Planes fly over both sides of the Hotel, but do not bother as they stop at night. I also believe the runways will be changing to stop this but it is unconfirmed.
We were overbooked by UK and so changed to the Beach side of the resort after 4 days. Bigger part to Hotel with variety of eating choices, all very good. Excellent pool staff. Watersport booking area on beach, glass bottomed boat trip is a must, reef snorkelling nearby (need paddling shoes which are cheap out there), sunbeds on beach, animation team do table tennis, dancing, darts etc. on beach. Steps to negotiate to rooms and dining restaurant but not difficult for 80 year olds. Restful and quiet Hotel, lovely promenade walk to the shops of Naama Bay, takes 15 mins strolling past beautiful gardens and luxury hotels. Superb ice cream. All food, excursions etc can be put on the bill even ice creams! Taxis trips to old market area are worthwhile as prices are cheaper if you are good at haggling. It also gives a more Egyptian feel to your holiday. Submarine trip was great and suited all ages of our party, this was near Old Market area. Scuba diving available everywhere, as are excursions to St Catherines Monastery - 2 hours drive which we did not attempt due to age of party.
rooms in Hotel were excellent, spacious, large beds, air conditioning, good bathroom with egyptian cotton towels shampoo moisturiser bath gel and hair dryer, had fridge mini bar, and were cleaned everyday as were the pools. Marriot staff were always maintaining every area and any problem was immediately sorted i.e padlock locked on suitcase! Nothing is too much trouble to the staff or Egyptians in general, who despite the heat never seem to lose their temper. We had B&B so could choose where to eat in evenings, Italian in Hotel was excellent, pool and beach bars very good, lots of tantalising restaurants along pathway to Naama Bay as well as fast food outlets.
We all enjoyed both side of the Hotel, the blue skies, the heat, the friendly staff, the peace and quiet, good food, the luxury of the Hotel care, views of the boats coming in every morning, waterfall over pool, food and relaxation, watching how the staff maintained all areas. A very modern area of Egypt with high standards as tourism is the economy.

This is one of the worst value for money hotels I have had the misfortune to stay in. I stayed in the Hurghada Longbeach Hilton in 2004 and was very disappointed with the service, although everything else was great. I was told that this was because it was All Inclusive.
I booked the Marriot in Sharm and paid an extra £150 per person for Bed and Breakfast in the hope it would have excellent service. My grandson and I were ignored completely and had to get our own drinks nearly all the time. At one point, just to see, I waited for 2 hours to see if a waiter would respond to me and my grandson smiling waving and beckoning. We ended up getting our own drinks.

The rooms were clean and spacious, but there was a lack of plug sockets. The hotel is built on a very steep cliff and as I have mobility difficulties this made it hard to get around. Even fit people found it difficult. They did offer me an invalid buggy, but I opted to stay at the top of the hotel rather than face the embarrassment. There were terrible problems with the food. I am not a vegetarian but I can't eat white meat, and I was told on a number of occasions that food did not have meat in it to find that it did. This was down to staff barely speaking english. This could prove to be very dangerous as one young girl had a serious fish allergy and incorrect information could have been lethal. The food was really boring and if you don't eat chicken or fish there isn't much to choose from. The hotel were not particularly bothered about their misinformation and did nothing about it. They were not the slightest bit bothered with customer service.

The hotel overall looked extremely opulent, but was a bit of a let down. The service was appalling and to be honest I can't remember when I have encountered worse. I wanted to relax, but spent most of my time trying to find waiters or arguing with them about misinformation. We were told by one waiter we couldn't eat round the pool, when everyone ate round the pool.... He refused to get us a menu. Just bad management. The saddest thing was my grandson, who had been so excited when we arrived, said midweek that he would rather be at home. He has never said this about anywhere we have stayed before. This has put me off staying at a Marriott ever again. Finally - we flew Thomson (Tui) and the crew were fabulous.
