We stayed at the Marriott as we we got married in Bangkok in December. The hotel was brilliant, very friendly staff, exceptionally clean, brilliant choice of food there is about 5 different restaurants to choose from, chinese, thai, japanese, BBQ are the ones i can remember. If you opt for the BBQ which is down on the river front you can eat as much as you like and there is a vast variety to choose from such as indian, thai, vegetarian, italian, chinese, steaks, pastas and desserts and they put on a lovely show.
Our room was lovely, if you go ask for a room with a private balcony over looking the Chao Phraya river, the views are stunning. you can get a free boat from the hotel which takes you to accross the river to the sky train, where you can access the whole of Bangkok from.
There is a small shopping centre accross the road from the hotel which has a boots, macdonalds, KFC and pizza place to name a few, it also has an outdoor heineken beer bar, which is a really cheap place to drink, its about 1.50 baht for a jug of beer (approx £2.00 english money).
If you can take a walk outside the hotel to the right, its definately an experience which i am sure you will enjoy, look out for the minor bird who speaks english and thai!!
