Marriott Royal: Disappointed by Prue Martin

My husband and I visited The Royal Marriot Hotel on Friday 13th July. 2007. We were there to attend our daughter's graduation ceremony. We decided to stay at the hotel because the position was convenient and we had stayed there before and been very pleased with the hotel This time was another story. Arriving at lunchtime and in somewhat of a hurry we rang for room service for lunch before the ceremony. Although we rang for ten minutes, there was no reply and so we went without lunch. When we reported this to the receptionist she was not in the least interested. Returning to our hotel later that evening, we found that none of the following electrics worked e.g. Kettle,fridge,hairdryer . This meant that we had no early morning tea and I had to go down to breakfast with wet hair. Again reporting this to the receptionist ,there was no concern and no aplogy. They did accept our point whwen we refused to psay extra for the warm water out of the fridge but that was all. Breakfast was also very unappetising. The dining room was understaffed so there were long queues for eggs to be cooked and other dishes were luke warm. On the whole not what you would expect from a hotel of this standard

We stayed at this hotel for one night only, but we liked it very much. At just a little under £60 per room per night my wife and I had a reasonably sized bedroom and on suite bathroom with corner bath. It is a very nice hotel.

The breakfast was excellent. It was a buffet selection and there was so much choice on offer.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel.
