| Maspalomas Travel Guide: Maspalomas forever
| | Written by Maria Rodding #1 on 18 Nov 2006 about a trip in Aug 2006. Trip was for a family on holiday. Maria Rodding #1 would definitely visit again.
| Maspalomas attractions | 10.0 | There is the most beautiful beach in Maspalomas (las dunas) it looks like sahara. You can walk for 2 km in the desert. If you follow the dried out river from Maspalomas you'll go straight to the beach. Just before you come to the beach you walk by a camel farm where you can try to ride on one.. it's so hillarious, try it! You walk in a cravan into the desert, it's very beautiful.
Wedensdays and saturdays there is a marked on the other side of Maspalomas in a small town called San Fernando. it opens a 9am to 14pm and you can buy what ever you like and here is your chance to bargin. If you get the salesman down to half his price you can walk away with a good deal. But be ware! Some of them are very smart. Outside Maspalomas there is a park called Palmitos Park it's so beautiful there are all kinds of tropical animals and plants and a very funny parrot show it's highly recomendable if you are traveling with children. and on the way to palmitos park there is a water park where you and your children can spend a hole day. Next to the water park there is Perla Canaria where you can buy pearls or just look which is also worth a visit. |
Maspalomas shopping | 10.0 | | Maspalomas got everything... where ever you are staying in Maspalomas the lokal shopping center is always near you. It is a bit expensive center with a lot of quality shops. I love faro 2 because you can look around without any salesman comming over to you all the time. Besides that there are good restaurants and bars, especially Banana Tropical Music Pub it's very popular. If you go there you'll know why. |
Maspalomas restaurants | 10.0 | | One of many good restaurants i will recomend is also situated in Faro 2. it's called Cho Juanillo and you can get everything you like, from pizzas to steak or even tapas. But there is also other restaurants like Meson las Tapas (traditionally canrian food) and Michelangelo an italian restaurant. Luky Luke a mexican restaurant, very good and I could go on... Piz paz is good to. All of them is situated in Faro 2. |
Maspalomas day trips | | | If you don't rent a car it's easy getting around by buss. The busses goes all the way from Maspalomas to the main city of Las Palmas or where ever you like and it's not expensive. Las Palmas is worth a visit the house where Christoffer Columbus lived before he went out discovering America and it han the third biggest habour in spain. Mostly the sun doesn't shines at the northern side of the island. because of the mountains the clouds stays north. Luckely the sun shines almost all the time at the southern side. You can also join day trips arranged by lokals if you dont want to drive or take the lokal bus. From Maspalomas you have the choice to take three different main roads. The first one goes to the west of the island. First you come to anfi beach wich is a beach with white sand imported form the caribbean. then you drive on through Puerto Rico and you come to Puerto de Morgan wich is worth a visit. If you drive through the mountains against the north you come to some small cozy cities one of them is Teror and if the weather is clear you can see Teide on Tenerirife, which is the one of the highest mountains in Europe. Another place to visit is Arucas where they make the famous canarian honey rum. |
Getting to Maspalomas | | | The most easy way to go to maspalomas is by plane. It takes about five hours and half an hour from the airport by buss or car. if you travel with a travel agency the buss from the airport is incluided. |
When to visit Maspalomas | | Gran Canaria is good all year... in the winter it rains a bit but it's not cold at all. never belov 15 degrees. |
