Matagorda Travel Guide: Matagorda has become a lot less interesting

Trip was for a family on holiday. Gruntfuttock would prefer not to visit again.

Matagorda shopping

Matagorda is an extension of Puerto Del Carmen and as such does not offer the same sort of choice as is offered by the vast array of shops, restaurants, bars there.

Matagorda nightlife

Matogorda is quiet and exceptional value for families especially with small children as the restaurants / bistros / bars cater for families.

Matagorda restaurants

Very sad to say that one of my favourite restaurants (Greek) Santorinis has closed. Even more so is the fact that another of my favouries has declined a great deal since I last visited (last year), The Auld Triangle has definitely gone down in my estimation. Had a meal there last week, burnt chips, burnt chops, burnt scampi, service very very poor, sorry guys marks out of ten (2), you need to get your act together and quickly.

If you need a lovely meal, but a wee bit more expensive but nevertheless great quality try a restaurant called Kinsales on the front heading towards Puerto Del Carmen on the esplanade.

Matagorda attractions

The only attraction is the lack of hustle and bustle.

Getting to Matagorda

This is only a stones throw from the airport and the trasfer time by taxi or coach is less than 15 minutes.

Getting around Matagorda

Taxi to Puerto Del Carmen is just 4 - 5 euros.

When to visit Matagorda

Early July is my best bet, not too busy, weather is always very warm and the wind is very deceptive as you don't realise you are burning, take care with this.

Beautiful Island... best of the Canaries
Lanzarote is a beautiful place, Puerto Del Carmen is very buzzing and the shopping is good. I really enjoyed this holiday..... and would not hesitate to go back...
