Mauritius shopping

7.0
Grand Baie has some nice designer shops and a market where you can haggle. Port Luis has the waterfront centre and a large market.

Mauritius nightlife

6.0
Lively nightlife is not probably what most people go to Mauritius for, however it is there if you want to look for it. Again Grand Baie is probably the best bet.

Mauritius restaurants

9.0
Great food everywhere we ate. Seafood always a winner.

Mauritius attractions

7.0
The whole island is the main attraction. Fantastic beaches, good diving.

Mauritius day trips

Organised most daytrips ourselves, just grab a taxi from the hotel and they'll take you wherever you want. Much cheaper way of doing it. We felt very safe everywhere we went.

Mauritius History and Culture

Mauritius is a fantastic place we went there last June to get married / honeymoon. We could not have picked a better place. We stayed at the Paradise Cove Hotel on the North coast of the island and it was as near heaven on Earth as you could get. The people were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. We found this to be the case all over the island. I was prompted to write this after reading the comments by Mauriman in response to some criticism from a previous contributor.

The island is a naturally beautiful place with some of the warmest and friendliest people i have ever encountered. I have travelled the world quite extensively from America to Australia and just about everywhere in-between. As previously stated the cultural mix of the different races and religions mean that there is such a diverse mix with everyone just getting along fine with each other.

Getting to Mauritius

10.0
We flew Air Mauritius with a business class upgrade arranged by our travel agent. Best flight i've ever taken (and that includes BA, Emirates, Cathay etc). Comfortable seats, attentive staff, great food. We were picked up from the airport in an air conditioned BMW for our transfer to Paradise Cove.

Getting around Mauritius

We went everywhere in Taxi's

When to visit Mauritius

We went in June, and had a fair amount of rain , though not all day. Short sharp showers followed by sunshine. It was quite windy however.
