Mediterraneo Park: Awful room, awful food by Wendy Davies |
| Posted 16 March 2008 about a visit in June 2007 | Overall rating: 4.1 |
We had a dreadful, dirty and shabby room on the 5th floor of this hotel. Needed complete refurbishment, redecoration and cleansing of room and bathroom.
Many broken tiles in bathroom, lots of black mould and a badly cracked and chipped handbasin.
Conrete 'furniture' in a tiny bedroom. Replacement room offered on complaining was identical (down to the cracked handbasin).
The whole row of rooms along our corridor appeared to be the same as ours.
Carpet in corridor was very dirty and badly stained.
There were lovely rooms on the other side of the corridor, that could be classed as 4*(and everywhere else we looked), but it seemed that Thomas Cook customers were not allotted these rooms, only the ones in our row.
Hot food was always cold and unappetising. Cold food was kept uncovered, allowing flies to walk on it.
The part of the hotel in which we stayed, and the standard of the prepared food was more like a 2* hotel than a 4*.

Mediterraneo Park: Not recommended by Derek Marshall |
| Posted 14 July 2005 about a visit in June 2005 | Overall rating: 3.3 |
I am amazed that this could be classifies as a **** or Thomson tttt hotel.
We have stayed in several **** Thomson hotels in recent years and been very happy but this hotel fell well below our expectations. In fact we were so appalled that we booked flights home after 2 days!
Where do I start? The room was shabby, tiles broken, broken electrical fittings, the light etc control by the bed was rusty and the paint peeling off, the sealant around the basin was peeling off and discoloured.
Outside in the corridor the carpets were dirty and stained. Fire doors were propped open.
The bedrooms and corridors needs totally refurbishing
In the restaurant food cold, unappetising, flies everywhere on uncovered cakes etc. In the bar area, the beer was not very cold, the stage had a ladder and pots of paint on it all the time we were there.
The pool area was infested with flies.
In my opinion this hotel is a dump and I am amazed at the other 2005 reviewers comments

Mediterraneo Park: A lovely lazy holiday by James Feest |
| Posted 30 June 2005 about a visit in May 2005 | Overall rating: 9.0 |
let me first say my wife and I are no spring chickens, being in our mid 70's.
Neverless the
The Mediterraneo park Hotel is an excellent place to holiday in. It is right on the extensive sandy beach (which extends for miles in either direction), although the Hotel pool is large enough to keep most people in the hotel grounds happy to use the pool- especially as there is little or no shade on the beach unless you hire a beach bed and straw umbrella.
Although the Hotel main restuarant is self service there was a more than ample selection of foods both at dinner and breakfast (we were on half board).
Whilst the menu was very spanish,(and very edible) it was all well presented. Empty displays were always quickly replaced. An added benefit at Breakfast was Spanish Cava (Champagne style) freely available, empty bottles replaced immediately.
The Restuarant staff were quick to clear empty plates, were cheerful and helpful, quickly relaying vacant tables with, if needed, clean linen tablecloths, and of course, clean linen napkins, cutlery and glasses.
At breakfast and dinner there was always a good selecion of fresh fruit.
Room service was also very efficient. Towels these days are only changed when required, but any dirty towels were always replaced, as were the various items such soap, shower gel, shampoo etc. In many other hotels we have found that once used such items were seldom rplaced.
Bar prices in Spanish Hotels are no longer the bargains they used to be.
When we first went to Spain some 40 years ago 50 pesatas for a large Brandy was expensiove!!
However the Bars at the Mediterraneo Park are well run.
The Entertainment Staff worked hard with often little support!! not because they were poorly organised, but because during it was FAR TOO HOT.
35c to 40c is a bit warm. The Evening enterainments were very good and well supported. wew must admit we watched from our balcony from which, on the 5th floor we had a grandstand view of the sea , the large pool, and the housing between the hotel and the main atra of the resort some 3/4 of a mile away.
All in all we had an enjoyable fortnight - if somewhat hot- we would recommend the area to anyone who likes a quiet type of resort, with no hills to climb, no lager louts, a long promenade with good Hotels to choose from.
It appears that Thomsons are pulling out of all Almeria destinations in 2006, but several other package holiday firms still go on 2006.
Of course one can always organise your own holiday on the Internet.

Mediterraneo Park: JCL by Joe Lloyd |

Have just returned from Roquetas and Mediterraneo Park hotel, courtesy of Portland Holidays. An excellent holiday hotel - the choice of food was more than sufficient for anyone and the quality excellent, seek-out the chefs at the back of the restaurant who cook-to-choice. We were pre-warned and took our own tea/coffee and kettle, didn't mind not having a fridge as we used milk powder. Loved the swimming pools, the best one is the indoor pool for early morning or late night swims..... nobody seemed to use if. We hired a car through the Tour Company but could have saved 40% if we had done it locally on arrival. Our only point of note was that on arrival we had to wait, with everyone else, two hours for the room - if we had known this we would have packed our swimming bits in our carry-on bag and not the suitcase. The hotel staff are all very helpful as was the Portland Rep. Did not bother to go to any of the Brit Pubs, not really necessary. Full marks - we will return!!
