Visited The Menorca Country Club in Aug 2004 as an allocation on arrival. First impressions were very good, and to be honest there was no reason to change my mind. There were a combination of holidaymakers who either self-catered, were on half board, or all-inclusive and if there was any complaint then it was because of the latter! You couldn’t get a pint even if you were paying for it!
The Country Club was definitely a get away from it all holiday, as Playas de Fornells was a good 2-3 miles away and there were an awful lot of hills around. Even the gateway to the Country Club was a ¾ mile hike! A hire car is essential if you want to see more of the Island as only a couple of buses run each day to Mahon. The less mobile may wish to find more suitable accommodation.
The rooms were a good size, clean and most had reasonable views. There were three pools, two of which had a pool and snack bar, there was a good beach just 50m away. Entertainment was laid on each evening for the children if you wanted to stay in the club. This is not a ‘Margate’ style Spanish resort and you won’t find a mass of bars, nightclubs, or English eateries, what you will find is peace, tranquillity and a relaxing holiday to be had.
Would I go back? Well in truth I think I would look elsewhere first, but if the wife and I wanted a complete break then I don’t see why not.
