Merlin Resort: Merlin Resort excellent value for money by Denise Harvey |
| Posted 06 April 2008 about a visit in March 2008 | Overall rating: 8.3 |
My husband and I visited the Merlin Resort in the first 2 weeks of March 2008. We booked at the last minute and wanted something that was good value for money, clean and good entertainment day and night. What we found was exactly that.
All inclusive gave us everything we needed. The rooms were a good size and clean, however they did not have air conditioning, which wasn't a problem in March. The entertainment was excellent, Van, Sticky and Hayley made you feel welcome whilst encouraging you to join in the games such as water volley ball, killer pool, darts, rifle shooting, archery and football tennis to name just a few. However, they knew when to leave you alone if you wanted to chill out and read a book.
The food was not brilliant but it wasn't bad, however, my husband and I enjoy the finer things in life and we always found something that we enjoyed each day from the buffet.
We do not have children but this hotel and the area felt very safe. The hotel was constantly improving whilst we were there. A holiday is what you make of it and we certainly had a fantastic time with great thanks to Sticky and Hayley who were English.
We rarely ventured outside the hotel, but there were a couple of supermarkets nearby selling everything you would need and a row of shops, bars and restuarants. We did not go to the beach as the hotel was so good.
I would definately return here, in fact we were thinking of popping back for a week in June.
Denise and Ivor

Merlin Resort: Excellent by Lloyd Dolan |

I found the Merlin an absolutely brilliant cheap get away. I too booked then read the bad reveiws, but don't take any notice.
The rooms were spotless, the service was exellent and the food was good.
The entertainment staff were really easy going and made you feel at home, especially Van, Sticky and Hayley.
This place is perfect if you want to spend a week by the pool and relax or join in the fun.
I also enjoyed the company of the other guests and 26 degree heat in Feburary

Merlin Resort: Great holiday loved it! by Niesha Andress |

The merlin resort was deffently a great place to go. it is good value for money and the service that was given was brilliant. The entertainers such as van sticky hayley and ben were so funny and there is always something to do or watch. the food was good there was always something to eat even in between meals. our room was cleaned everyday apart from the weekends and they did a good job of it. the room that we stayed in was spacious although there were only 2 of us in there. location was ok for things like supermarkets and restraunts. even after entertainment was over and bar was shut there were pubs such as the 3 horse shoes that didnt shut till 4 which was less than a 5 minute walk away. over all i had a holday i will never forget it was the first time i went to merlin but have been there when it was ocean club 7 times and deffently go again.

We decided on a week long holiday just me and my husband in feb 2008. We booked the Merlin Resort but when we read the reviews we were very unsure. Seeing as we had no children with us we decided to go for it and we are so glad we did. The holtel is brill, even thought it is a long way fron the beach. The food was good having plenty only the desserts let it down. The rooms were ample big enough and were cleaned every day except weekends. The reception staff were very friendly as also were the other staff. Sticky and Van the entertainment staff were fantastic, they kept us all entertained day and night i have never laughed so much. The people we met also made our holiday and we had a brill time. Would definetley go back.

Merlin Resort: julie, dave and kyle stayed in january 2008 nor 2007 by Julie Gresham |
| Posted 20 January 2008 about a visit in January 2007 | Overall rating: 9.4 |
we read the reviews in sept 07 when we booked it and they wern't that good so was apprehensive but the price was cheap so took a chance. myself, my husband and my 8yr old grandson thoroughly enjoyed it. the entertainment at night was spot on. never been abroad ever before in the last 14 trips abroad and had such good entertainment. daytime activities were good but if there were a few more people staying they would have been able to do more. sticky entertained kyle all the time even when kyle was the only child on the complex. so weel done sticky and thankyou. everybody staying were saying when they get home they will put a review in to say wot an excellent hotel. must say the all incl. is only til 11pm which when we booked said 12 midlnight but the entertainment goes on til approx. 1am. food is wot you are used to eating at home but sometimes not all products went together as there were potatoes to go with the meat dishes and then there was chicken nuggets but no chips. the lunchtime food was the best. pool cold but if you get in it is not that bad and i am the worst for cold pools. bars down the road are good. everything on hand - bus stop just 3 mins away with bank and cashpoint and shops. main supermarket open til 2am. only bad thing is no food late at night the last of all incl. food is when you have had dinner at night. kyle said is was mega. van, darren, sticky and hayley were excellent. always coming round talking to you if you wanted their company. van was so talented always cracking jokes and making you laugh with his stories of his life. he is a very talented bloke and can sing well and brill at elvis. he has worked with many celebrities. definately go back but think it would be too busy in the summer monthes. as maybe would be difficult to get sunbed round the pool but when we were there from 9 - 16 jan 2008 there were only just over 80 people at hotel but i think this is cos there were so many bad reviews and now i know everyone is going home to put in good reviews. as now an english hotel and previously was run by germans. first choice have now stepped in and so i hope they keep the same entertainers as first choice will spoil it if they put their own reps in there. hello to everyone who were there when we were especially derek, chicken george, terry, maisie and gang, neil and family. LOVED IT!

Merlin Resort: EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY by Helen Davies |
| Posted 15 January 2008 about a visit in January 2007 | Overall rating: 9.0 |
My partner, myself and my 13yr old son booked this holiday 6 days before we came.Iwas preparing myself for the worst and expecting the hotel to be a cardboard cutout. Much to our surprise this was not the case and we all had a BRILL time. The food was great and plenty of it,my partner particularly enjoyed the FREE UNLIMITED ALCOHOL, couldnt get his sunbed close enough to the outside bar.The hotel was clean and comfortable and not too big hence making the atmosphere more friendly.
The weather was in the mid seventies, wouldnt get that in Britain in Jan eh!!!!
The entertainment was superb with Van the Man.Sticky,Hayley and Darren. They all made sure that nobody was left out.Children and adults were entertained day and night.
Location was good also, quiet area but only a stones throw to local shops, transport etc.Free courtesy bus from hotel to the main resort for shopping, pubs and clubs etc.
Resort suitable for all ages, something for everybody(but not for chavs!!!!)
Many thanks to everybody for making our hol GREAT
p.s. We actually came Jan of this year 2008 but the review site only goes up to 07!!!!!

| Posted 09 January 2008 about a visit in December 2007 | Overall rating: 8.9 |
In January 2008 me and a group of friends and family went to the merlin resort from the reviews we read before we was a bit worried about what it would be like because people were saying it was one of the worst hoiliday they have ever been on but dont believe everything you read. it was amazin we had such a good time the staff were nice polite helpfull. the rooms were good size. the all inclusive was very good with food being good and drink also good as well with a wide selection of all inclusive drinks. the pool complex was nice with table tennis darts free wiv pool tables next to them. and then for a quieter day there is a seperate pool. then there was the entertainment during the day and the night it was amazin haley sticky van and daz were all amazin having competitions in the day then discos and games in the night. i would recommend it to anyone who is undecided.

Merlin Resort: Getting to the Beach |
| 17 Mar 2008 by Betty Boop |
Hi
I was just wondering if the hotel offered a bus service to the beach.
If not, was it a long walk?
I'm going with two children and an OAP, and I don't think they'll appreciate a long walk!
I would also like to know whether the beach is sandy or pebbly.
Thanks v. much >> Answer this question | |

Merlin Resort: Kids Club |
| 08 Feb 2008 by Karen Dempster |
What ages is the kids club for please? As my son is 3. >> Answer this question | | | | >> | Answer 1 by Helen Davies (22 Feb)
There isnt a kids club at the hotel, there were plenty of kids of all different ages and the entertainers tried to get everybody involved, all seemed to be having a great time but if you are looking for time by yourself whilst your son is being properly supervised then this is NOT the ideal place, hope ive been of some help to you.
