| Arrived in Milan mid November and found hotel with no problems. We stayed in the Amadeus hotel which is a really nice hotel just round the corner from the Main Central Station. We were first time visitors to Milan and were really looking forward to this short 4 day trip.
After only one day, when we walked everywhere, used the underground, visited Duomo, the station and several bars and restaurants, we found we were BORED STIFF. We wandered up and down and around all those expensive shops etc and honestly don't know what the attraction is in this city.
On the plus side, day two saw us take the train north to Lake Como. Beautiful, chilled out wee place and thoroughly enjoyed our day.
However, on the minus side, back in Milan we found several bars charging upwards of 8.5 euros for a bottle of beer, 7 euros for a bit of pizza etc and that just put the tin lid on it. All the locals were in Macdonalds as its the only place to get a beer at a semi reasonable price!! This is Culture?????
Its a bad day when the only positive thing you can find in a city is a train leaving to go somewhere else!! We won't be back - what a waste of time (Except Lake Como)
Oh and something else, if you're going to Milan and this hotel (Nice Hotel), don't let your wife take curling tongs !! They were confiscated from our room when we weren't there because apparently, they're not allowed and only returned when we checked out!! Yes, we had to check out first, and then open our case again to put her tongs in. What a strange City !! But we won't be back anyway - so there!!
